That's odd because I took my son to see it earlier today and kind of had the opposite reaction, I ended up even more displeased with the first half of the movie. Also - I kind of wished they had gone with the original Kirby vision of the Supreme Intelligence more. The scenes with THAT would have been absolutely trippy.

BTW, any cat lovers out there MUST stay 'til the end of the credits. You'll know what I mean when you see it.

Captain Marvel receipts at $200 million stateside and $600 million world wide. Forbes magazine forecasts a mark in excess of $1 billion real soon.

Ha, ha! Great boycott success.

Black Panther made over $200 million the first two days.

I'm not sure yet if it will be better or worse on second viewing; like I said, I'll have to find out tomorrow. I've seen movies that I loved the first time around that got worse with subsequent viewings, and I've had movies I was meh about that got better. I'll just have to see. I would have preferred the Kirby version too, but I actually like what they did with the Skrulls. I went in crossing my fingers and hoping they wouldn't overplay the shape shifting gimmick and was pleasantly surprised. There was an interesting Coulson/Fury emotional intelligence call out that I liked. Also, being a fan of Agents of SHIELD, Coulson went through a personality shift between the MCU films in the TV show, and I felt like he successfully brought back that previous personality.

And I'm pretty sure that Black Panther and Captain Marvel have been the two most successful Marvel "origin" films, at least going by opening weeks.

I'll gladly reward wise investments, and Disney definitely has been one. Happy for my family to contribute to your investment, even if minimally. Did you happen to buy before the Pixar acquisition? I mean, good investment regardless, but particularly fortuitous if you did.

Actually, I started when I worked for Disney in the 80's - not sure what the deal was, but for every thousand or so hours you worked, you got part of a share as a tax write-off - something like that; it was a long time ago. Those shares I took a picture of were from when they discontinued the practice and I ended up getting them for free. Sure, I could have cashed them out but I kept them and they've split - geez, I dunno how many times by now. I still keep buying shares of them, so I've bought more shares every other year since the mid-80's. They were really my very first investment and first time dealing with stocks. I've diversified my portfolio since then but those first few stocks are what started it all!

I invest in anything that will make me money. And again, thanks for investing in my wallet!

Actually, I will see it for FREE. But thanks for contributing to the promotion of patriotic progressivism rather than unpatriotic Republicanism.

I guess forum right wingers are going to hate Stuart Wolfe now because while all this time he has stood up for the right wing, he has been putting his money with the patriots. You know the old story - where your heart is, there is where your gold will be so that now he will be facing a right wing boycott-backlash.

By the same token, since you admit to NOT putting up money for Disney, ripping them off by watching it for free and pirating their work so that you are NOT supporting it with your money - now YOU are facing a left-wing boycott-backlash of your own!

Red? Blue? Meh, the money's just as green.

Personally, I won't work for or invest in a company that makes me compromise my values, but as long as you are providing value for your customers, I don't have to find value in it myself. Provide a new line of camo cargo shorts if you want. Not my thing, but if you have as smart business model and interested customers, I'll consider investing in that. If I find out you are cheating your customers, I'm out, even if I think you'll be successful. But otherwise, yeah, I'll give it a shot.

I liked the Marvel comic books when I was a kid, but I don't know Dog, putting this stuff on the big screen and TV just doesn't do it for me regardless of controversy or politics.

But one was much more successful than the other.

The boycott failed. The movie is an outstanding success. Makes me want to go and see what the fuss is about.

Both were more successful than all of the other origin movies. Not sure what you think the point there is

I think his point was that if Larson had kept her yap shut it might have made more.

I'm just wondering why it's a surprise that it's majority white people making reviews in a majority white country.

    Meh.

It has already made over $760 Million (Worldwide).

Brie will be getting $25 Million+ for the Sequel.

    So?

Win/Win all the way around. [IMG]
