Bishadi, please don't spread misinformation about subjects you don't know anything about. Photons don't have mass. In fact, that's one of the basic tenets of modern physics.

im in shorts and a t shirt, sitting on a couch.

Many have variant descriptions of the photon, often based on what TV program or even experiment they have in mind when putting the description into words.

when i do, please tell me.

Of this subject, the world of comprehension is changing. It's called a paradigm shift. ie..... Most of what you think you know of nature and specifically your belief of

Photons don't have mass. In fact, that's one of the basic tenets of modern physics

It's all changing, and like the majority, few have any idea it is occurring.

Basically, you are the one that is incorrect and just unaware.

For example: did you know that Planck and Heisenberg were wrong with the physics that are currently accepted?

If you did not or do not comprehend what the mistakes are and what has been learned since, then you should perhaps step aside.

    really? Proton?

Please judge. Each can and are capable, equally.

Just dont compare me to the complacent. Most are like preachers and too stupid to comprehend when they are wrong.
You said we were talking about protons, a couple lines above.

And i knew, the argument is that most have no idea what a photon is, let alone what it is upon mass.

I already know that a photon does take up space and depending on how you are defining mass (i aint a fan of relativity or QM and neither (physics of) are correctly defining mass, energy or how they relate/associate to the letter).

Dont argue with me, do the time and learn before posting.
The whole of how both are defined is changing and returning to the old lavoisier material, can and will offer you and increase of knowledge to learn.

i asked you to learn and you keep ranting that you dont like me claiming that the energy itself, is a part and in fact, to be included in describing the mass, of any molecule.

I aint the one having trouble with comprehending nature, you are!

Right. Tell me when that paradigm shift actually happens, and what the evidence for that is. In the meanwhile, I'll keep on holding on to the conclusions the evidence points us to.

    already happened.

The last word (name of god), exist. From that point forward, the world is changing it's perspective.
    Increased Comprehension of causality.

you aint representing the 'evidence' you are defending the definitions as accepted for the phenomena, as your evidence.

The evidence aint pointing you to the conclusion. You are repeating what others are claiming the evidence concludes.

The evidence shares that entanglement is just gravity. Have you reached the same conclusion?

The life of all, is light (em- electromagnetic). Have you reached the same conclusion?

Or will you just trust 'them' (whomever you like), versus doing the actual work on them 2 exact subject matters?

Bishadi...because I believe you are a person that has value I will try to reason with you upon this matter as I feel you are doing yourself a disservice attempting to state and assume incorrect physics and physical laws that despite your claims that such ideology is changing...it is in fact....not.

I would like you to read this and see the logic of it.

In order for something to have MASS...it must have as a part within it both FERMIONS AND THE HIGGS-BOSONS.
    LINK...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higgs_mechanism
The Higgs-Boson gives Fermions MASS and if you take a look at the link it explains why and gives the math explaining why PHOTONS are kept MASSLESS.

If PHOTONS were not massless then they could not travel at 186,282 miles per second. There could be no Photosynthesis, we could not stand in sunlight, we would not see colors...etc...etc.

I am asking you to trust me on this at the very least if you do not either understand or believe the science and math because when you post such things I believe it damages your credibility to a great extent.

    Truly,

Ok, I've been away from this thread for a while, bring me up to speed.

What was the argument for photons having mass?

A few people on this forum incorrectly have stated Photons have Mass.

    They don't obviously.

There does not exist an argument supporting Photons having mass as to be able to argue this a person would have to present evidence as unlike a belief or a ideology this is Physics.

Photons are "warm". With other words: The mass depends on energy (wavelength).

Where did you get those equations? E=mc^2 is only true for particles with no momentum, which is not true for photons. The full form is

    [IMG] (Source)

which reduces to E=mc^2 for particles without momentum and E=pc (which can be shown to be h*f) for massless particles. You can't mix the two.

To be fair, mass is not very well defined in relativistic terms, it could be argued that moving particles have a mass but that viewpoint has largely been abandoned, not for being outright wrong but for being useless. It would also change depending on the observer, which makes it nigh on unphysical.

The only mass that makes sense from a relativistic point of view is the rest mass and that's usually what people mean by mass when it comes to particle physics. It is zero for photons. If you're arguing about the rest mass being non-zero, I'd like to see that argument.

And the formulae you posted describes neither of the mass concepts.

Yes I completely agree. Their calculations are just atrocious. I haven't seen so much bad math since I had to teach my nephew to count from 1 to 10. Clearly the little tent thingy under the h should be where the big J is and the m/s should just be ms. Who divides a letter by another letter. :roflol:

I have indeed spoken and I feel quite confident in my maths. As for the NSA, I don't know. Well, they haven't shut me down or anything, so I feel safe.

    mp = sqrt(E^2 - (pc)^2) = sqrt((pc)^2 - (pc)^2) = sqrt(0) = 0
It would appear he's just trolling.
