It's the final call, say scientists, the most extensive warning yet on the risks of rising global temperatures.
Their dramatic report on keeping that rise under 1.5 degrees C says the world is now completely off track, heading instead towards 3C.
Keeping to the preferred target of 1.5C above pre-industrial levels will mean "rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society".
It will be hugely expensive - but the window of opportunity remains open.

Of course its never going to happen, stick you're head in the sand and it will go away,

So, like, if everyone stopped driving, today, it would all be fixed?

Natural cycles. Hot as hades today, freezing cold in a week. Taxing it isn't going to stop it.

Two intelligent replies by those who know nothing of what carbon does to the atmosphere. It’s all OK, Trump told us so and he’s an expert when it comes down to hot air.

Threads like this one, presenting a valid and critical issue to debate, and the responses show why we're screwed. To casually dismiss and/or joke about this topic places our ignorance and self-serving behavior on full display. At the very least people should endeavor to learn as much as they can about the issue, to listen and participate in the discussions, and respect those who are vastly more intelligent than we are...

In other news, the American Automobile Manufacturers Association cites (industry subsidized) studies finding that driving older cars costs 10,000 lives per year in the U.S., advocates an immediate federal ban on all used vehicles greater than ten years old to avert this deadly, mounting crisis.

The internet has allowed average people to wake up to government (gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM and cronies) graft troughs of all types, will they wake up soon enough or is it too late?

Well gee I guess this is the final final final final notice. The oceans were supposed to be boiling by now and all life dead. Remember when old Al Gore said there would be no ice in the Arctic, and all the polar bears would be dead. BTW there are more polar bears than ever now.

Ok, so explain how the IPCC group ignored the most recent relevant studies that clearly all suggest that more than 1.5C is so outside what we'll actually see. The scientific work of the day suggests that this fear mongering is both uncalled for, and not supported in the actual data. So, why should we believe the IPCC?

Here's better use of time. Ask why the UN continues to demand that countries like the US surrender trillions of dollars in an effort to develop the undeveloped world which frankly has no other option than to continue stoking the production of CO2.

So, cool I won't joke, or be casual. The burden is on those who profess their demands on the rest of us. Ready? Begin.

What I know is that CO2 is one of the lesser greenhouse gases. I also know that if the US does everything they want us to do, the change will be insignificant. The US is window dressing in the world stage..

Further, the whole prediction is based on unverified equations. We can't accurately forecast what will happen next week, but somehow we are under the illusion that we can forecast what will happen years in advance.

They present the change in global temperatures as if man is responsible for it all and that if man ceased to exist, the temperatures would just suddenly stop changing.

Most climate change advocates know little about the science, but are parroting back only what they have been told. They buy this BS about 97% of all scientists agreeing with the science. In actuality, there was no such survey.

I challenge anyone, that is ANYONE to tell us what the output of the sun will be tomorrow, a week from thursday, two months from now, or five years three months and two days from now.

If you cant, basically you cant tell anyone anything about what the weather or climate will be.

Does the left realize that if we get rid of the ice in Antarctica, the worlds second largest and very nutrient rich continent, that we could turn it into a massive farm and end world hunger?

I have to wonder why they want to see children starving instead of fixing that problem?

What issue? It's just a money grab. More doom and gloom dire predictions that haven't come true. You're like a religious cult using fear to gain compliance. You lost. How are you going to make 'dire' even more 'dire'. What we've learned is that these things are cyclical and there's nothing that can be done or needs to be. You're trying to dictate to the Earth what climate it should have when you can't answer it yourself.
What should be the climate of planet Earth?

Well, doing something would inevitably damage the oil industry, so we can't do that.

I have to laugh. I did the Google for a query that asked, "how will carbon taxes improve the under developed world"... Interesting results. Everything from, they will cripple the under developed world, to, they're the best thing ever. Of course, Google won't exactly allow you to see actual policy in development in the UN that would effectively transfer wealth from the developed to the non developed world. How else could the UN get the under developed nations to support their scheme? It's not like those nations are going to suffer. In fact, they aren't supposed to, and are supposed to enjoy the windfall of our guilt. I suppose that's why we're hearing the histrionics. This was supposed to have already started, and all those petty dictators were supposed to be fat with the payments the UN promised them.....

They could solve this problem by making ALL cubicle jobs work from home...i can do my job 100% remotely but they only let me do it once a week...this could cut down on lots of co2 emissions

Welp. I'm not a climate change professional. I work in another field. I'm assuming you are a climate change professional?

Guess it's just natural selection. We were put on this planet somehow. We have evolved as a people. And I'm never going to stop driving my diesel truck.

    Good luck Environment!
