Wow, looks like Ryan got a solid victory tonight. I was sure how people were going to react, but it appears that Ryan has crushed Biden. Yes, it wasn't as pretty as Romney's victory, but Romney didn't have a mad man to deal with. after-debate poll shows Ryan crushing Biden 56 - 36% When you think about what Ryan had to deal with you have to give him credit. He took down a wild man, keeping his cool and his dignity. He didn't roll in the mud with Biden. I mean let's be honest, the only people excited about what Biden did are die hard liberals.
I'm a registered Independent. I like Obama's economics. I hate his other policies. I watched most of the debate. Ryan was energetic, and confident. Only problem was if you understand the issues, Ryan was talking utter nonsense. He looked like a young, used car salesmen. Biden looked like an experienced, professional politician, who knew his stuff, and he wasn't being snowed by the fast-talking youngster. The media made a big deal about Biden's style. EARTH TO MEDIA PEOPLE: Substance matters, not style. Tonight, Biden had the substance. And I'm not a die hard liberal. I oppose Obama on immigration, Islamization, affirmative action, gun control, death penalty, probably a few other things.
You like Obama's economic policies? How about the actual results which is being endlessly on the verge of recovery but never quite taking off? More Americans on food stamps is the Obama economy.
Biden looked like a desperate clinger. He looked downright afraid to let Ryan speak and finish a point. Biden screwed up bigtime. http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/p...radicts_state_department_on_benghazi_security
I am an Independent voter....Biden is an idiot . First time I ever seen a Vice President heckle anyone. Good show Joe! LOL!
I had to watch the debate on my recorder, and was shocked at the rude, and absolutely goofy performance of Biden, what a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing dick head. Constant interruptions, constant smiling, mumbled answers, and the real question was how much he had to pay the moderator to let him ramble on and on and on, she was the worst moderator I have ever seen. Ryan without a doubt was not only the winner, but a class act fitting for a vice presidential candidate
I mostly agree, and hate Obama-Biden at their very core. Apparently most people were far less forgiving of the smarty pants smile and interruptions than you and I were.
I think both men did a pretty good job. I'd give the a slight edge to Biden, he portrayed a better command of the facts and did a good job of rebutting Ryan's positions, but Ryan also showed he's a fast learner, a bright guy, and held his own. What a vast improvement over the Republican VP four years ago. I also think Biden probably helped out his ticket a little more. The Dems have been in a downspin since Obama's lackluster first performance, and I think Biden helped to restore some confidence and energy.
That was my thought too. What is there to like about Obama's economic policies? The soaring deficit? The rising gas prices? The borrowing from China? The unemployment?
The deficit dropped a record $207 billion last, 16% last year, and is down almost $400 billion from 2009. Gas prices are lower today than they were in 2008. Unemployment is down from 10% to 7.8%, the same level it was at when Obama took office, and trending down. Apparently there is a lot to like about Obama if you are not a predisposed partisan.
$1.1 TRILLION dollar deficit for 2012...the fourth year in a row for trillion dollar deficits. Is that what you like? Then why am I paying more than ever before at the pump? How is Obama addressing this problem? I haven't even heard him comment on this scourge that is causing the price of just about everything one buys to rise along with the cost of gas. So four years after taking office, and spending hundreds of billions of dollars on his job stimulus, Obama has made no progress whatsoever in getting people to work? Wow! That's really impressive! Yeah. So I see . Drop by again when you can spend more time. I enjoy a good laugh (like Joe Biden).
The deficit dropped a record $207 billion last, 16% last year, and is down almost $400 billion from 2009. That's what I like. If we continue that trend, the deficit will probably be below GDP growth in a couple years, and the debt will start to shrink as a percent of GDP. Unless we (*)(*)(*)(*) up and elect Bush Redux with the same tax cuts/military spending program that got us into the debt mess under Reagan and Bush. You must be going to the wrong pump. No, as usual with you, your conclusion comes from being ignorant of the facts. The unemployment rate dropped from 10% to 7.8% and 4.7 million new private sector jobs have been added since Jan 2010. Based on your own criteria, when you know the facts.
This is like someone cheering the 800 pound man for losing twenty pounds. You can ignore four straight years of trillion dollar deficits, which is what makes you a partisan propagandist, but there is really no way to defend it. Whose economic vision do you think America would rather live under? Obama or Reagan? And you can't possibly be serious! Gasoline in California is at an all time high! That's an all time high. It isn't bad enough that we have the worst economy since the Great Depression. The cost of gas is spiraling out of control and Obama is AWOL on the subject. You yourself said the unemployment rate is just now, after 42 straight months of being over eight percent, what it was when Obama assumed office. Do I have the facts straight here? Obama has spent four years and hundreds of billions of dollars trying to put people to work and we are no better off now than when he stepped into office! You can insult me but you really can't deny the facts here. It's pathetic, isn't it, how ineffective Obama has been.
I think this is a very honest assessment being that I know where you're coming from. I'll just disagree that Biden helped out his ticket. I will say, Biden probably could have done much better had he not been such a jerk. On the other hand, had he not been such a jerk, interrupting and heckling, Ryan may have caught his stride, so it was probably a calculated move. Ryan, to my amazement never seemed rattled, though. He kept being a gentleman and while he lost a lot of opportunities, he won hearts. He decided to be the adult, even if he wasn't going to get to talk as much.
From the link in the OP. ***2ND UPDATE: I'm now reading on Twitter that the AP poll mentioned in the update below is not real. Garbage in, garbage out. This is what happens when you get your news from garbage like Breitbart. They are reporting the "news" based on Twitter claims.
Then we're being lied to that the 2012 deficit is 1.1 Trillion? Utter BS. Gas was $1.94 per gallon when obama became president. If you believe the numbers, however assuming for one second they are true, then it only took him 4 years of above 8% to do it? Magically just right before the election? Really? (yeah, I know all about your run-on thread touting the employment numbers, so no need to go trapsing off on that in this one). Apparently you can get anyone to like obama if they believe the lies.
Proportionately, it would be like an 800 lb guy losing about 125 pounds. Which is something to cheer. The pass the buck generation likes tax cuts, so they'd probably vote in Reagan again, even though he ran the debt up 180% in his 8 years. Who said anything about gas in California? You didn't know we had a great recession? It was the worst since the Great Depression. The economy was tanking at -9% and losing 700,000 jobs a month when Obama took office. 3.5 million jobs were lost in the first 6 months alone! Unemployment hit 10%. The Dow dropped to 6500. But under Obama, the economy turned around. 4.7 million new private sector jobs since Jan 2010. The unemployment rate has dropped to 7.8%. The Dow is up to 13,300. Isn't that better? We have reversed the damage Obama inherited. In his next term, he will start reversing the damage during the Bush administration. If we don't (*)(*)(*)(*) it up and elect Bush Redux in November.
I'm always honest in my assessments. Fair criticism, but after the lackluster performance of Obama last week, I do think Binden's strong performance gave the Dems something to cheer about which they needed.
Nope. My post should have said down over $300 billion. Weekly U.S. Regular Conventional Retail Gasoline Prices (Dollars per Gallon) Jul 07, 2008 - $4.051 Oct 08, 2012 3.742 http://www.eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/xls/pswrgvwall.xls You never heard of the Great Recession? What lies?
Just so. After Obama shat up the joint there was nowhere to go but up. No worries. O will be confronted will all his Benghazi lies next week.
