Columbus Police Fatally Shoot Black Teen Who Called Them for Help, Aunt Says

Sometimes you just can’t win.

 

In too many instances,'Tasers' are little more than powered-up, modified toys, and at ranges greater than just a few feet, everything can go wrong because there's those all those many feet of folded-up little wires that can get hung up on everything. And if the gizmo that is supposed to stick to the target doesn't stick, then nothing goes right.

At a distance of about five feet, when the target is wearing something light, like a t-shirt, and it's a straight-on hit, then tasers can work pretty well. Otherwise....

 

After seeing the video again, that cop acted with the reflexes of a cat and on complete instinct to save the victim. The cop is a hero and Harris and Biden should commend him.

That girl was shot deservingly so. Thank you, officer.

A fluid situation it was, protecting an innocent life the officer should have had. A proper course of action he chosen indeed.

Oftentimes, people press their attacks even after being shot. More often when the gunshot wound is to an extremity rather than the center of mass. If the cop had done as you advised, and Bryant had fatally stabbed the girl in pink, what would you have told the victim's family? "Sorry, but at least Bryant only got a flesh wound"?

He took control of the situation just fine.

 

I had to respond to laugh too. A knife is deadly force, especially when the assailent is 200+ pounds.

I heard someone say segregation is the answer. Maybe it is the only way to ensure everyone's safety at this point.

 

The officer should be given a medal for his quick action to save the girl being attacked.

 

Lethal force can be used when someone's life is endangered or they are endanger of SERIOUS BODILY HARM.

How about don't pick up a knife and try to stab someone and if you do lethal force will be used against you to stop you.

First how would a bullet in the thigh have stopped that arm with the knife in it?
Second one of the common ways people die from a bullet wound is a shot in the thigh that hits the artery.

He was shooting to kill as he should have, an instant death to stop her from causing serious bodily harm at he least and probably the death of another person.

But seriously, does anyone else think there's something in the national water supply? There's this other story about this woman going nuts after offering to pay the bill for some soldiers at a restaurant, and another woman who bit a chunk of flesh out of an Uber driver's neck.

 

I’m legit surprised how few are pointing this out. I WISH the cops had a non lethal way to stop someone, but they don’t. He might have saved her life.

There's a reason why every firearm course, law enforcement or otherwise, teaches you to go for center mass, not to gamble on trying to shoot a limb. And if he had reached for a baton instead, he wouldn't have been acting in the best interest of the victim. I'm not really sure what you think the "crosshairs" meant.

 

Most people, thankfully, don't see shooting someone as a first-tier option for, "taking control," of the vast majority of situations. Normally, that should be a last resort, after other methods have failed.
