That would be nice, but have you seen how much stuff carries on him/her these days? I run into cops all the time down here and the question I always ask them is how to they chase people with all that stuff on?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I'm guessin' the prize in this case was a 40. Although it could be a 9.

If you can stop someone and not kill or maim them, and it works virtually all the time....what else would you need?? No need for a taser of gun.

Doncha' know it was systemic racism that got this girl killed?

Press Secretary Jen Psaki told a news conference on Wednesday: "Her death came, as you noted, just as America was hopeful of a step forward after the traumatic and exhausting trial of Derek Chauvin and the verdict that was reached.

"So our focus is on working to address systemic racism and implicit bias head-on and, of course, to passing laws and legislation that will put much-needed reforms into place in police departments around the country."

First of all, the artery that needs to be avoided is very much on the inner part of the thigh, towards the front, so that leaves a whole lot of flesh (especially as the girl had her back to the cop) that is a much safer option, than a shot in the person's trunk. If that seems too precise a shot for the cop (which it shouldn't be, at that range), then the cop should not have fired at all, because if his accuracy was that poor, he may have hit the other girl, who was RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ASSAILANT.

Secondly, I will have to go back to the video to see if her arm was in mid swing of what appeared to be a deadly strike; I tend to doubt that it would have resulted in more than a small slash on the forearm, a non life- threatening defensive wound. That is, of course, if she carried through on her strike, effectively, which also is a highly-questionable assumption. To begin with, my initial impression was that the girl was swinging wildly to begin with; being hit with a bullet is going to produce a physical reaction in most people that would throw off any gross physical motion such as wielding a knife; the circumstance you seem to be describing of a person on top of another, non-resisting victim, and driving her knife straight down, in an unalterable way, does not match the instance in question. As I said, I will need to go back & re-view it.

Lastly, as the girl was only a couple of feet away from the officer, & nowhere near the second, intended victim (who you credit the cop with saving), moments earlier, there was no good reason for her to have ever escaped the officer, scot-free, & un-pursued. 1) He could have used his baton & stopped the girl when she was in reach (what I voted for); 2) had he reached for his taser, instead of his gun or baton, when first catching sight of her, in pursuit of the 1st attakee, he could have chased & either tackled or tased the suspect before she reached the other potential target; 3) even if he was too slow to catch her, if the girl realized she was being pursued, it would have altered her behavior; had it not, and she still stopped & focused on the girl in front of her, that would have given the officer the perfect opportunity to sink a full-Nelson, for example, or smash the side of her knee with his baton, or smash her hand (yeah, tell me a crack on top of your hand wouldn't make you drop a knife),etc., and neutralize her threat.

So I'm sorry, but just sitting back & watching until things reached the point where he felt the use of deadly force was his only viable option, is not my idea of exemplary police work.

At the bottom of the OP's post, quoted in my reply, are two pictures of the girls, by the car. Each picture is divided into quarters. Hence, where the parallel & horizontal line, which create the four-square division, cross, i.e., in the center (I assume, w/o going back to verify that detail), resembles, "cross-hairs," of a gun sight (enough for me to think that the reference would be understood). One is fixed on the assailant's upper thigh, the other on her calf. Not really an important part of my post, but I didn't want to keep you wondering.

Bravo, and makes me think of two possibilities:

    1. There is still hope for America.

    or

    2. Somebody hacked MG's account.

Not really, not everyone’s. People will continue doing what they do best, segregated or not.

    Sorry.

They can't help their color. It's the behavior that matters. If the truth troubles you, the problem is yours.

Whats the fastest way of getting control of the situation when one person is raising a knife over other person, getting ready to hack at her?

    That’s right.

Tell it to the people who support:

    Black dorms
    Black safe spaces
    Black caucus
    Black Miss America
    Black colleges
    Black only conferences
    Black graduations
    Black housing
    An entire black town
    Prisons
    Gangs
    And so on

Of course, that could just be basic discrimination and racism.

You mentioned something about segregation, why are you changing the subject?

There is no mention of segregation in any of my posts.
    You are confused.

You must have segregation stuck in your mind.

    So why the 1950s reference?

Do you see the word segregation in my posts? Nope. So I mentioned nothing about it. Another poster did. You are confused. The other poster is who you need to be posting to.

The 1950s reference is a direction. In the context, it was to go back in time.

It's not necessary in the vast majority of situations. This was one of the exceptions.

If there was ever a case where a shooting was justified this is certainly it but we still have the armchair liberals second-guessing them

This has got to be a joke, right? You're just messing with us for the lolz?

Have you ever fired a handgun? Have you done it at a moving target? Part of the reason so many are commending this cops actions is that he managed to make a very precise shot to hit the assailant and not the victim. Asking cops to make shots on the outer part of her thigh, towards the back, of a moving, flailing target, is just plain nuts. It demonstrates that you don't understand the first thing about pistol marksmanship or defensive tactics.

I shouldn't be surprised, but still am, that people think the cop should have allowed the girl in pink to be stabbed. Here's a story about a 13-year-old girl that got killed by another 13-year-old girl with a knife in Cincinnati, just this week. That's the outcome you're advocating for: the girl in pink bleeding out on the street. "Maybe just try your baton, officer, or shoot her in the leg". All of your suggestions here would increase the likelihood that the girl in pink suffers a fatal knife wound.

And we have the General Admission Conservatives, judging any with varying perspectives; hence, the Circle of Life remains in balance.
