Tom I am a fiscal conservative and yet quite liberal on social issues. My post history here reflects this. Your argument isnt illogical and I suspect you may be a moderate leaning liberal. The reason the wall needs to go up isnt for any of a dozen reasons people can argue the merits of and possibly win...The reason the wall needs to go up is because the man said he was going to build it.

I'm gdamn sick and tired of politicians from both sides blowing smoke up our arses for an election cycle then just saying fk you. What's worse is the citizens of this country are fine with it as long as we can fight amongst ourselves while those twits on the Hill get nothing done. It's worth the 20 billion or whatever to me just for that reason. He said he was going to do it and we elected him

    Then do it.

I vastly prefer the wall to building more places to store illegals while they get processed. A wall does not need to be fed nor an attorney appointed to solve issues such as immigrants rights. Walls do not show up with broken legs, screaming children nor deal with clothing issues. Build the wall Democrats.

Read these two books and you will forever love G.W Bush and understand how it actually happened as opposed to what you got fed to you by Democrats. They lied to you Tom.

Bush indeed did attack Bin Laden. Tommy Franks tells when and how it was done. Hell, Bush even hit him with the MOAB to kill him.

Bush did not hike to the site to verify the death. But give him credit for trying very hard.

Stop talking as if you vote for Democrats is my tip of today.

We are not asked to approve any of this. We are here to whine. And this is the specialty of Democrats. (To all democrats who do not whine, I am not talking about you)

Congress has such details. We can contact congress and demand they wake up and protect us all. They have already approved the wall. So just build it. Stop acting like money is the problem Democrats, you know you love to spend money.

Then Trump lied when he said he knows how to build walls and build them cheaply. Go figure.

L-O-L. If this is true, then how come you were so ready to give Trump the billions he requested? He lied about the cost or what?? He got more than enough according to these people. Now call these guy's bluff, sign a contract stipulating NO cost overrun, not a penny more than what they've quoted for, and if they don't complete the wall in a certain timeframe, sue their @$$e$ out of business. Agree??

Which bit of this did you not understand?
Oh I can see how the gullibles read it. 234 miles of wall for $1.4B. Let's forget about the extra quoted $2.91B needed for the wall to work as required and forget about the cost of extra guards, cost of buying the land and legal disputes. Now let's go to the $8B that Trump wants which translates to $24.6B for just 234 miles using the same rationale that the OP you quoted which again does not include the cost extra guards, cost of buying the land and legal disputes.

Perhaps now you can see how the total cost will be approaching $100B for 1000 miles before adding the cost of extra guards, cost of buying the land and legal disputes. Then there will be the repair costs and maintenance contracts of the electronic security measures to be added on

You are one of the gullibles.

Me : "Hey, here is the house I built you for $1.4M"
You "but that is just four walls! It hasn't got a bathroom, kitchen, heating or any electricity or any running water"
Me: "that was not in the quote"

BTW How come that great business man wanted $8B for a project that will actually cost $1.4B ?

The wall they approved in 2006 was already built, and the money was spent. I am referring to Trumps wall where he grabbed the money from the military after Congress denied funding. So no, they do not have the details.

    OP

Well - stranger things have happened?

Our government signed a big contract with a ferry company that doesn't have any ferries. Don't believe me? But it's true I tell you!

" . . . in which the startup company Seaborne Freight was awarded a £14m contract to open a new UK-EU ferry route for emergency medical supplies in the event of a no-deal Brexit, even though it had no ships and no port contract." [IMG]

If only the contractor were Halliburton or Blackwater, then we would know we could trust them, right? :headache:

Of course. Or Trump Construction inc. The investors trusted him in Atlantic City, so they can trust him here too :applause:

That is not what I read. The congress realized when it approved the wall that down the line they had to appropriate more money for the construction to finish it.

Why do Democrats blame particular failures on a man and not the circumstances? Can they come up with other examples of well managed Casinos at that time in that city?

I have defended Halliburton a lot of times. The public never understood that firm.

At the time nobody in their wildest dreams realized that of all places Mississippi would legalize docked, stay-put riverboat gambling and the other states would follow by legalizing some kind of gambling in quick succession. A "few state market" rapidly became a nationwide market. You got to be on BLM desert land, and even on that BLM land you got to be far in the boonies not to have gambling available within a hundred mile radius now.

I see now how the contractor can construct a wall so fast. The way his wall is built, it reminds me of the technique used to build some of the concrete dams.

Here in CA, the tribes beat the rap by constructing casinos. I still do not understand why some do not understand that not all of them are roaring successes instantly. If too many of them are in Atlantic City and it thins out the customers base, they they have hard times.

There are more of us. Every election cycle, "your" share drops by about 2%.

Can you quote this realization in the text of the bill? They authorized funds for 600 miles, and that is what they built.
