Of course they did. They tried to cover up the degree of infection and lied about the human to human transfer on 1/14. Dr. Birx (and many others) made that point in the daily briefing a couple of days ago. Dr. Fauci stated that the effects of the virus would be miniscule on the US on 2/17.

The Chinese willfully allowed the virus to be spread globally and are responsible for the deaths now of over ~100,000 people.

    Read this:

The United States enters one of the most critical weeks so far in the coronavirus crisis with the death toll exploding in New York, Michigan and Louisiana and some governors calling for a national order to stay at home.
New York, the hardest-hit state, reported on Sunday that there were nearly 600 new deaths for a total of 4,159 deaths and 122,000 total cases.
Bodies of victims of COVID-19, the flu-like respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, were stacked in bright orange bags inside a makeshift morgue outside the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, according to photos provided to Reuters.
U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams warned on Fox News Sunday that hard times were ahead but "there is a light at the end of the tunnel if everyone does their part for the next 30 days."
"This is going to be the hardest and the saddest week of most Americans' lives, quite frankly. This is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment, our 9/11 moment, only it's not going to be localized," he said. "It's going to be happening all over the country. And I want America to understand that."
Places such as Pennsylvania, Colorado and Washington, D.C. are starting to see rising deaths. The White House coronavirus task force warned this is not the time to go to the grocery store or other public places.
Most states have ordered residents to stay home except for essential trips to slow the spread of the virus in the United States where over 321,000 people have tested positive and more than 9,100 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
However, a few churches were holding large gatherings on Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week in Christian churches.
"We're defying the rules because the commandment of God is to spread the Gospel," said Tony Spell, pastor at the Life Tabernacle megachurch in a suburb of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has defied state orders against assembling in large groups and has already been hit with six misdemeanors.
Louisiana has become a hot spot for the virus, on Saturday reporting a jump in deaths to 409 and more than 12,000 cases.
Governor John Bel Edwards told CNN on Sunday that the state could run out of ventilators by Thursday.
White House medical experts have forecast that between 100,000 to 240,000 Americans could be killed in the pandemic, even if sweeping orders to stay home are followed.
President Donald Trump warned on Saturday that there were "very horrendous" days ahead.
Washington state Governor Jay Inslee, a Democrat, whose state recorded the country's first confirmed COVID-19 infection but has since seen cases flatten after early action to shutter activity, said if other states do not also impose strict measures, the virus will simply circulate.
"It would be good to have a national stay-at-home order," he told NBC News' "Meet the Press" program. "Even if Washington gets on top of this fully, if another state doesn't, it could come back and come across our borders two months from now."
Republican Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, however, defended his refusal to order statewide restrictions, saying the situation was being watched closely and that his more "targeted approach" was still slowing the spread of the virus.
"We will do more as we need to," he told NBC.

He is not only refusing to set an example, he is publicly rejecting it for himself against advice from the CDC. That will likely kill a lot of people. Once again trump is selling snake oil over sound medical advice.

Where did I say anything about forcing anyone to do anything? Do you always inject imaginary conversations in your head?

I am saying his stupidity and his childish ego are killing people. Don't blame me for your imaginary arguments that go on in your head.

You had an issue with him making it voluntary.. What you want is mandatory...

Do you get it now or should i link to the definition of those two words?

If you dont want people replying to your own words dont type them.

"Today the CDC recommends that everyone wears a mask to help prevent spreading the virus. Trumps says, wear a mask, don't wear a mask, its voluntary, I'm not wearing a mask."

Do you see the issue with your words yet?

Trump's posture regarding wearing a mask was, indeed, something that can be legitimately criticized. I heard his statement on the subject and it was almost as though he was saying: "I don't think you need to wear a mask, and I am not going to either, but these 'experts' are telling me to advice you wear one so I am going to leave it up to you to decide. This is totally voluntary but maybe you should wear a mask."

He was a like a child trying to have a cake and eat it too! He had been resisting making this recommendation and once he did, he made sure the message was totally garbled.

His favorite trick is to contradict himself many times on every subject. That way he can always point to something he said somewhere to support his lie at that particular moment.

We also have doctors rushing to denounce his advice to self-medicate and ignore what the medical experts say.

It seems that the number go up and up and up. How much more will it go up and up and up? Sometimes I don't think this stay at home quarantine isn't helping as much as we think it should. closed services may have to stay closed longer and there isn't much that's being done. There may be some folks that are getting so restless day after day that they can't stand it anymore. They'll want to go out and storm out and stomp and kick and act up. Are the rest of us willing to tolerate something like this? Think about it.

I think trump thinks the people are smarter than they actually are . I only listen to what the experts say . That makes me intelligent . .

Trump thinks all are intelligent . His stupidity or he thinks more of us than the dems do ?

Still trump should be advising us to do what the experts say whether he agrees or not

But still voting for him for my first time since biden makes trump look like a genius.

News today is focusing on New York's decline. I know any bit helps for them, let's hope this trend continues. New York makes up for over half the cases in the US

    Stop,
You have zero knowledge of when the Chinese knew anything about the virus. We do know they held the information from the rest of the world. The question is why?

I think that is accurate without being hateful.

Btw my nurse daughter dropped off some really good masks today! Really good ones with several layers of varius degrees of finess of fabric. Well fitting even with my zz top beard.

She also does my food shopping for me. We have cases here at her hospital but the hospital does not inform us . But she told me they have had only 4 admissions with 15 others testing positive to date. An early admission died in icu at 46. She was an rn who caught it in florida .

The virus just appeared in the next town close to us where ms.state univ. is located. Broke out in a high class nursing home there . But our local news will not cover local deaths and infection rates . Except for the entire state !

Why ? Dunno. But doing that might make locals stay at home more. Yet this town of 50,000 is closed down and traffic is very low like I have never seen.

My son in laws aunt in Alabama is infected with it . Caught it from her grandchild by baby sitting her. She only has a scratchy throat so far after 5 days. But my daughter said that once it escalates to shortness of breath it moves super fast . You can die really fast . Ventilators dont save many at all from what she has been told.

Dont know how this jives with what we are told but here that is our reality to date . WWe only have one city in Mississippi so pethaps our stats will be better than Louisiana .

Mardegras should have been cancelled as well as spring break in florida. Yet no one ever expected we would have a novel virus so deadly and super contiguous! This one will make history as the Spanish flu did .

Underestimating it is pure and utter stupidity .

If it lasts longer than the seasonal flu our econonic situation will be dire if the newest bubble pops . But if not the economy will rebound but be damaged.

Hopefully intelligence will trump the profits of our elites and the supply chain will come back to the people as our founders were wise enough to set up long ago . National interests are more important than the self interests of a few at the top.

Elites have no qualms about destroying the health of the US. for most of these bastards have no allegiance to their own country .

I love capitalism and retired early years ago and sold my small manufacturing business that served the construction sector. But what I despise are greed driven capitalists! So greedy as to give jobs to communists as they disemboweled America and her salt of the earth people. That can never be forgiven.

Many of those who died were initially self isolating at home, then few days later began to get shortness of breath but decided to wait until the following day to see if their condition improves. This delay is what proves fatal. If you suspect that you have the virus and are self isolating at home and then you become breathless do not delay in calling for an ambulance

Well at least we won't hear of the so called "screw up" of Obama when 12000 died in around 12 month period from the Trump crowd again. They have strangely stopped quoting that figure
