At minimum, an interesting legal case against the Chinese.

I think we should get to the bottom of it if we can.

Where do we go with the answer, one way or the other?

Having a wet market for game is irresponsible. Maintaining a lab where a deadly virus can escape is irresponsible, too. Deliberately spreading covid would be crazy.

Anyone who is a sentient being knows the CCP are evil thugs we would be crazy to trust.

If Chinese culpability can be established to the satisfaction of the courts then extremely significant damages could be awarded. It would be unlikely that the Chinese would ever pay, but the judgment would provide useful leverage.

It might be another nail in their credibility coffin. But like I said, sentient beings already know they're thugs so we'd be educating ideologues and stupidos, both difficult tasks.

We might use it to put pressure on CongressCritters to look into our own labs. Are they taking the care necessary to protect society?

Three years of covid and still not a word from the government sock puppet medical experts about what is obviously a genuine concern. Not a word when Trump was President. Not a word since.

    We're lucky Ted Kaczynski wasn't a biologist.

One of the first studies of long COVID has been retracted and replaced seven months after editors marked it with an expression of concern citing “data errors.”

The original paper, “6-month consequences of COVID-19 in patients discharged from hospital: a cohort study,” was published in The Lancet in January 2021. It was “the first large cohort study with 6-months’ follow-up” of people hospitalized with COVID-19, according to an editorial published simultaneously, and has been cited more than 2,000 times, according to Clarivate’s Web of Science. The World Health Organization, for example, cited it in several documents.

Last November, the article received an expression of concern stating that a researcher had contacted the journal about inconsistencies between that study and a paper published in August 2021, also in The Lancet, describing the same cohort of patients after one year of follow up.
