You're ignoring slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, two centuries of displacement killing of Native Americans, discrimination against women, and the imprisonment of Japanese during WW2. I could go on. Government abuse during COVID impacted the entire nation. There’s no way anyone can condone or justify that level of widespread abuse.

Recognizing the historical abuse by government during the COVID hysteria does not trivialize previous abuses.

 

You're the guy who made the comparisons. I'm not saying the covid restrictions didn't impact people, some much more than others, but they're not of the moment of slavery, Jim Crow, the military draft--all with nationwide impact.

 

Reaction to Covid totally changed this country, completely redirected it. Nothing has ever had that effect other than nuclear weapons and that brought us together rather than splitting us up. Fatalities were terrible but they did not cause the effect the political aspect did.

British Columbia where I live part of the year had its schools fully open except for a few weeks in 2020. Stores were always open. Large sporting events, conventions and other large gatherings were banned before the vaccines.

We've had 1,172,229 covid deaths.

The difference between the U.S. and Canada was, I believe, that Canadians took it upon themselves to be more careful to avoid infecting others when they were symptomatic. We had covidiots engaging in reckless behavior to prove they could do what they wanted.

 

Your conclusions based on anecdote are wrong.. There was no difference overall deaths between Sweden .. who didn't lock down and Canada or the EU .. that entire population experiment was done .. and the T-Shirt Purchased.

The Death rate in the US was Far Higher than 500,000 your data is wrong .. US deaths were 1.2 million ~ 360 per 100,000 where in canada it was 150 per 100,000 .. this is quite a bit higher ... more Fat and unhealthy people being one possible factor.
