Just curious, are you aware of a time or place in America when there mere act of having sex with another consenting adult was illegal for heterosexual adults? And just to be clear, I mean that there was no form of intercouse that would be legal between such a couple? How about people being sacked, denied access to children or institutionalized because they were heterosexual? Any churches promoting 'straight conversion therapy' to hound or torture poeple into being gay? Parents rejecting their children because they were heterosexual? Prominent religious figures blaming terribnle disasters on the existence of heterosexuals?

In short, when was persecution, legal & otherwise, of heterosexuals just for being heterosexual widespread, commonplace & permissable? And if you are going to try some pathetic answer claiming it is happening now then you deal yourself out of any grown up discussion. There is a 'gay pride' movement because in my lifetime (and in most cases my adult lifetime) all of these things were happening to homosexuals. Some still are. You can find sick individuals on these very boards who still spit out hateful words like 'perversion' to describe homosexuality. When all of that stops 'gay pride' will end up like St Patrick's day - an excuse for a party at best.

If you don’t know, it’s because you don’t want to. We have numerous anniversaries honoring some of our most poignant moments in US history. The Stonewall Riots are considered a key turning point for gay people in America. Celebrating it gives meaning to the memory of the atrocity.

Stonewall ilhas been lied about souch it is now just propaganda. It was literally the police doing a sting on drug dealers in a gay bar, the addicts rioted not because they were gay or because the cops did anything against gays, but because drug addicts were upset their dealers were getting arrested. Everything else is just lies.

 

Except for all that pesky proof. If you ignore all that proof, believing it’s all lies is easy.

It will never stop. There will always be the hateful person here and there who just wants to be an *******. Im Irish, technically. We used to be an oppressed racial minority. I've never experienced it personally, but there's still a few people around who hate us. IDGAF, that doesnt make me special. If St. Patrick's day was 'Irish Pride Day' (its not) I'd find it just as silly as all the other pride days.

LGBT enjoy the same protection and freedom under the law as the rest of us. They can celebrate w/e they want. And I can find it ridiculous. Yay freedom. I've never witnessed any more oppression against gays than I have against the irish.

Mostly what I don't like are the folks pretending they're still oppressed. They're not. They're seeking special attention based on their identity. They won't get it from me. I treat everyone the same until they demonstrate some sort of impressive personal exceptionalism. What they're sexually attracted to or how they identify themselves or their skin color or their ethnic background or what group they decided to join isn't impressive to me. They can be proud of whatever they want, and I can ignore them for being proud of something unremarkable.

I think you are trying to fool honorable audience by comparing heterosexual couples with homosexual.
They are not equal, heterosexual couples heavily regulated by the government and they had their fair share of punishments for sexual interactions that were not in line with official policies.
To this day homosexual couples are not equal to heterosexual couples because their sex is not regulated by the government and they have ZERO responsibility for "gay sex"
Homosexual couples for some unknown reason have all public benefits for their engagement in 100% private activity.
The reason they are waving so many flags in totally inapropriate places is because they believe that people are stupid and continue to be stupid while listening to their loud noise.
