Not voting can get very deadly. Millions can die. Keep an eye on the Biden administration for future details.

UNC faculty member killed in shooting that prompted campus lockdown

A University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill faculty member was killed Monday in a shooting that prompted a campuswide lockdown. A suspect was captured about an hour and a half after the shooting.

If the argument for owning weapons is "self defense". It did not work that well for all the shooting victims.

Might be time for a different type of thinking about al this.

Because UNC is a gun-free campus.

Specific target with a 9mm. Even if the AR15 and all the "assault weapons" didn't exist, wouldn't have made a difference here.

So, WHAT will make a difference?? Or does this country have to accept being a nation of violence and live with that constant threat ???
Largely the shooters seem to have history of mental dysfunction.so where is the mental health system ?? Most war zones have ROC......which is lacking in this chronic state of gun violence.
People usually KNOW when a family member is troubled so why is the resistance to get help ?? The help is there.....so it must be the attitude to psychiatric issues that is still lingering from the dark ages.

This was a chinese born and raised grad student killing a chinese born and raised professor. I think your rhetoric isn't going to fit the facts here no matter how hard you try to massage them. I suppose we could round them all up and send them home if you want, but I doubt banning Asians is going to be any more effective than banning the AR15. There are just too many of both in wide circulation these days.

You people do remember that the worst school shooting in U.S.history (Virginia Tech) didn't involve long guns at all. Just a couple of pistols.

As one reads the over al responses to the topic, it seems that one can conclude that these shootings are not really a problem ...........as most defend and focus on the weapos and their right to have them. It comes down to a cost /benefit factor...... where the benefit of owning weapons outweighs the loss of lives via mass shootings.
One can also conclude that no one is prepared to come up with solutions , and therefore accepts these chronic mass shootings as just the current reality of this culture... which makes this phenomena part of this nations identity.

Reality: it is far too late to change anything as this is now too entrenched . ANY changes to the constitution re this, would result in a revolt. Weapons are an integral part of this nation's mindset (psyche) now.
    It is what it is.

For a long as there are guns, there is a constant threat of gun violence.
    There will always be guns.
You are responsible for you. Plan accordingly.

Since we have a behavioral problem, why not address the behavioral problem?

Oh, because folks like you WANT the things that lead to behavioral problems.

Because they want an excuse to further restrict the right to keep and bear arms.

And that does not speak well of humanity as a species.

I like humanity. I have great human friends and a wonderful human wife. Great human neighbors enrich my life... so do great human colleagues.

Perhaps you should identify as a cocker spaniel and eat dog biscuits if you're looking for a better alternative.

So why are you dehumanizing me?? Your dog comments demostrate a serious disrespect for humans (selective) In fact comments like that confirm that the human race is subject to a multitude of biases and prejudices .
M comment was merely addressing the ugliness that humans are capable of.,,beit verbally, or physically or emotionally.

I have great love and respect for the human race. I have risked my life for its security and prosperity.

You are the one disrespecting humanity by commenting that they are the ones that cannot be spoken well of. It is YOU that wrote that humanity was filled with ugliness verbally, physically and emotionally. Based on your own comments I just thought you might be happier as a dog.
No more verbal ugliness... you could just bark.
No more physical ugliness... you could bask in the beauty of being a German Shepherd.
No more emotional ugliness... you could just wag your tail and lick your owner's hand all the time.

    Easy peasy.

Me? I love people, enjoy their company and bask in the wonderful joy I can share with folks.

You are taking this way out of proportion. Taking a simple general staatement and blowing it up this way does not achieve anything...let alone foster a constructive discussion.
    Your anger is disproportonal.

Yes...humanity is a beautiful thing and hasdemostrated that by exceptional achievements in cooperation with each other.
One cannot deny that humanity has issues that perhaps time and evolution will correct.
Anyhow , before we go way off topic , let's just agree to respectfully disagree about some things.
You are obviously a military person. Thus you would have been exposed to what humans do to each other.(and can easily imagine the atrocities in Ukraine for eg)
My own experience with what happens with weapons has been in ER.
