I'm with you. Although I know little about it, mental health care in America needs improvement alright.

Rocked by 2 mass shootings in 2 days, this small country chose a different path
Serbia has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the world, deep political divides and a culture of violence. It might sound familiar to many Americans, but after two mass shootings in two days rocked the country last month, Serbians did something different: They started handing in their guns.

Good for them. that is being responsible . No one NEEDs weapons...and they foster a war zone atmosphere. Think Serbia.

We have the right to own and use firearms.
We don't care what you think, or what other nations do.

Perhaps that is the problem. This county could learn from other nations. and not be so fixated on a right that is creating so much death . It is also a tad arrogant and narrow minded. Other nations (many) are older and have more experience and wisdom. Sometimes this county behaves like a rebellious teenager.

No. The problem we have a certain demographic which does not value life.
The exercise of the right to keep and bear arms only rarely causes death, and does so legally.
But nowhere near as arrogant or narrow minded as the position that no one needs weapons, and weapons foster a war zone atmosphere.

No one NEEDS weapons. No one NEEDS to vote either. But both are our RIGHT. Think FREEDOM.

Right. Freedom to make a responsible choice by not having weapons around , when the outcome can be so deadly. Freedom to vote or not vote.. does not have a deadly potential.

My guns have never hurt anyone. So, if my guns are safe, why is it any of YOUR business? Knives kill. Cars kill. Hammers kill. Wait... PEOPLE kill... inanimate objects don't/ Why don't you pack up every knife in your house and send them to the police. Give your car away? You really do need to mind your own business. And my guns... safely stored away and never having hurt anyone ever... are MY business... not yours. You are just as dangerous owning a knife as I am owning a gun.

If owning weapons is so important to a person....then that is their choice.

Accidents can happen to any one .. Even responsible owners like yourself.

Yup. You can get hit by a car crossing the street, you can fall out a window... yup. Football players get injured too.

Aside from suicide and family shootings the overwhelming vast majority of crimes committed with guns use STOLEN guns. If someone wants to own a gun they need to learn to shoot it just as you learn to drive a car and require that you store it properly to make it at least difficult to steal operable guns and more expensive to buy the fewer stolen guns. If you do a search on the net you'll find stolen hand guns are sold for a third of their store prices, stolen rifles far less.
If you can't hit what you want to shoot and you can't lock up your guns, you have no business owning one let alone more than one.

The carnage from gunshot in the United States of America -- more deaths from gunshot than the deaths in our armed forces from all of the wars we've fought combined -- will continue until a sufficient percent of the American public decide they have to do something to reduce it substantially.

There are ways in which, say, target shooting can continue with minimal risk of gunshot deaths, but it will take an act of will.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

First thing they will need to do is amend the constitution.
Do you know how few people it takes to prevent this?

    Hi, TOG 6.

Yup! And one way of looking at the deaths is that these few people bear responsibility. It's not necessarily the 'right' view, but it does come to mind.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

    Hi again, TOG 6.

This poor old country mouse finds it difficult to believe that a desire to see gun deaths in this country significantly reduced would be unreasonable, irrational and bigoted.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

As you know, this is unrelated to the proposition I responded to.
