It seems the Lady Grey of the Tea Party is losing her spout.

Like her namesake, she has been beheaded - in a Florida strawpoll.

Leaving the way clear for an equivalent idiot in Sarah Palin to pour drinkies for the neocons.

Perry waves goodbye after Republicans reject the idea of turning the whole country into Texan ranch.

God has told Sarah she is not the next Messiah.

She is now seeking a new vocation working among those desperately without God.

God only knows who Cain thinks he is addressing with this little diatribe.

Thanks to the financial sector, half of America is either dispossed of their homes, out of a job, buried under an avalanche of debt, or working for peanuts with unscruplous employers.

Not many votes there, I'd imagine. But I guess the Rothschilds will be delirious with gratitude.

Thus one should not be disturbed that presidential candidates get their policies from gazing into a tophat?

What's even weirder is that you read them.

Why are the women in the Repug camp such complete dweebs?

Don't they have something to aspire to from their men?

You know, as in "just lie there and think of New England". "Then make me some eggs".

Well that seems to be that then.

Another gormless Republican Palin wannabe gets her marching orders.

One must start to wonder where the loons will go next.

    Oh yeah, I forgot. Cain.

Here we have another two Repug candidates set on spending a trillion of three the US doesn't have to wage another losing war.

Their problem is that China, being an ally of Iran, is highly unlikely to lend them the money to indulge this particular fantasy.

But maybe the Saudis would while China funds an Iranian defence.

Great stuff from the Republican candidates.

More war, renewed torture, no foreign aid, unnuanced hawkishness in every utterance.

Policies they think Americans can be proud of.

Policies they think Americans, having hopefully forgotten the messes of Iraq and Afghanistan, will somehow approve of borrowing more from China to fund. Thus adding even more to the national debt they keep squealing about.

It will be fascinating to see if Obama survives 2012 with the power to dictate to the Republicans how America will become a civilised society.

I suspect he will. The Republican debates are a circus that merely puts on display the ineptitude of GOP candidates. If Americans want to be governed by any of those fools, they deserve to have a dysfunctional society.

It seems the Democrats are already rubbing hands in glee at the prospect of facing the politically dyslexic Republicans who justify their weirdness only by appealing to American notions that weirdness is an American value that should be protected jealously:

I felt sorry for Candy Crowley on State of the Nation last night.

Confronted with the terminally cretinous Herman Cain, her frustration was palpable.

Here is a guy who has dreamt up "target identification" of those "who want to kill us" but has no idea how to explain how it is different from racial profiling. He just says it is.

How is it it that this bozo could be considered to run the US?

But then it has happened before. Only the bozo then was white.

GOP candidates are dropping like flies in a sandstorm.

What does it say about the Republican party that its so-called best and brightest have the political stamina of wayward ants?

Even Australians marvel at the appalling quality of the American presidential candidates. Which is pretty convincingly stygian comment when one considers the quality of theirs.

Australians return the favour of Americans by giving them even less interest than the interest they give them (unless, of course, they want them to help fight losing wars).

But on an Australian TV talk show last night, comments came from all four talking heads about what would make any American vote for such declared nincompoops.

Strange to say, there are some standards to which even Australians will not fall.

So here's the list of luminaries still glowing:

Ron Paul: believes isolationism works best in a globalised world in which China owns half of America.

Romney: dances to whatever tunes MTV is currently playing.

Perry: bleating on endlessly about topics like immigration that everyone lost interest in three weeks ago.

Gingrich: your Richard Nixon option - but trickier.

Bachmann: does she run on batteries or does someone have to wind her up?

Huntsman: the only candidate Obama ever had to fear.

Santorum: too boring even for Republicans.

It is hillarious to see that the one guy who is certain to lose against Obama has attracted the fond hopes of so many.

Obama will be delighted that Huntsman - the only serious contender for middle America - is doing so badly.

The right, fortunately, is attracted as moths to a flame.
