The GOP race grinds remorselessly on ...

... spending tens of millions to select a loser.

All that lovely media publicity for this excruciating event, so expensively bought, seems to be having an emetic effect on the general public.

There are now no stars in the GOP presidential race. They stumble around in high heels and ball gowns in dim-lit garages.

If Obama cannot beat these travesties of clowns, there is no justice.

I see the Pugs are now trending in favour of the candidate (Santorum) most likely to lose to Obama.

One wonders who their strategist is.

    Darth Vader or Donald Duck?

Oh dear. Now we have a "reborn" nonentity propelled to fame on American Idle lending his idiotic support to the Christian far right candidates.

But then again, the GOP song and dance is much like American Idol.

I think this also fairly describes George Romney's son:

The song and dance is almost over. Illustrating the value of the greatest number of strings to be pulled - and strummed - by the most dollars.

Unfortunately for Romney, he suffers from an opacity that is far too subtle for the Republicans he purports to represent.

He stands for everything they hope to believe in. Which, in sum, is nothing.

It looks as though Obama has invented a new dance called "The Cakewalk".

His opponent has managed to (*)(*)(*)(*) off large chunks of the Republican constitutency - Tea Partiers, evangelicals and extreme social conservatives.

Unless he does a McCain and proposes another lunatic in the form of Santorum as his running mate, swathes of Republican voters will stay at home. But if he goes with Santorum, he will alienate all those Republicans who think the earth is round.
