Iranians who travel to Israel to be sent to prison for up to five years, Tehran parliament decides Iranians traveling to Israel could go to prison for up to five years instead of only three months, after Iran's parliament revised an existing ban for such trips. The measure apparently reflects Tehran's security concerns over archenemy Israel. Iran claims to have dismantled several purported Israeli spy rings in recent years and arrested Iranians with alleged links to Mossad. ranian state TV on Monday reported that parliament passed a new amendment, expanding the current prison term for travel to Israel to between two and five years. Under a 1972 ban imposed by US-backed Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, offenders faced possible imprisonment of up to three months. At the time, the law was designed to mostly avert travel to communist countries The Iranian decision comes two days after a mysterious blast rocked a military base outside Tehran, killing 17 people including a senior Revolutionary Guards officer. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4148305,00.html
The explosion was certainly wonderful news, could not be happier. And along with water gun fights, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, to practice one's sexual choices, freedom of religion - we watch the iranian fascist dictatorship eliminate yet another basic human freedom and right. Yet there are those on this forum who laughably will defend iran and its religious "scholars," even though they claim to be "for" human rights. Apparently, hypocrisy is not a word these politicalforum posters are familiar with.
I'm in complete agreement with you. A government has not right to prevent its citizens from travelling to another country, let alone prosecute them for having done so! So, could you please explain this: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1097.html
Yes that Fascist American dictatorship denying American citizens the right to travel and in Oakland to free assembly and free speech getting tear gas thrown down their throats or shot dead!
In fairness they are allowed to assemble, in government sancioned and created "Free speech zones" - it would be funny if it were not true.
I'd prefer to go to jail for visiting a racist colony than have my children murdered by its gunmen, I must say.
But its nothing compared to the travel restrictions imposed by Israeli Occupation authorities on Gaza + West Bank Palestinians - including American citizens with a non-Jewish Palestinian grandmother or grandad, visiting relatives . ......
