DeSantis Anti-Drag Queen Law Overturned Using His Own Parental Choice Law.

    A Federal Judge has overturned Florida's anti-drag show law using the Governor's own parental choice law.

    "In his ruling, Presnell sided with Hamburger Mary’s, a restaurant that hosts drag performances and sued the DeSantis administration, claiming that the restrictions implemented by the act were too broad and not only violated their first amendment rights but unfairly harmed their business."

    "In a move the DeSantis administration likely did not see coming, Presnell cited previous laws passed by the Florida governor in his reasoning for placing an injunction on the law. Presnell wrote that the Florida government had failed to sufficiently narrow the breadth of the ban to prevent its unjust application and its “inevitable clash with the Florida ‘Parents’ Bill of Rights’ and other laws.”

    "The “Parental Bill of Rights” was signed into law by DeSantis in July of 2021. The law, as quoted by Presnell states that “all parental rights are reserved to the parent of a minor child in this state…including…[t]he right to direct the upbringing and the moral or religious training of his or her minor child.”

    The judge (obviously) ruled correctly...
    That said--Wow! DeSantis is Truly a MORON ..
    And, as if anybody needed more proof, this clinches it...
    Gotta feel sorry for GOP Primary Voters...
    Their Top 2 Options being a couple of clowns like a Career Criminal (Trump) and an Overbearing Moron (DeSantis)...

    Anyone else glad you didn't grow up in the age when your school teacher could invite drag queens to speak to you and entertain your class? And why? Because they can and they keep getting away with it.

    to be honest I would have found it entertaining but my parents also wouldn't be telling me i'm a bigot if they made sexual advances and i turned them down

    Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon performed in drag in "Some Like it Hot" before even I was born and it's been shown on regular TV ever since.

    This is all a new and manufactured "crisis" designed to fear people into voting over something that has been happening for years. Centuries if you go back to Shakespeare days.

    Like so many social-conservative culture war issues it's coming back to bite them.

    According to the law De Santis signed, parents of the children get to decide what their own kids watch, not random strangers.

    I don't think restaurant was forcing anyone to attend. If you don't want tobgo, then don't. Pretty simple if you ask me. Don't need a law for that.
