Do Americans really want a king Trump?

Like I said, he has whatever power congress, the courts, and the people of the US let him get away with having. The question is that how far will people let this type of thing go before they realize that what started out in an experiment in democracy is gradually turning into the rule of a tyrannical class.

 

If you want to make him king, go ahead. Like they say, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

It is not weak at all. Things like this don't necessarily happen overnight. It can happen as a gradual erosion over time. What we have seen that since 911,US citizens can be held indefinitely without a trial, a dramatic increase in extraordinary rendition, the US openly engaging in torture, and the president approving of lists of people who are to be assassinated on a given day. Keep giving up power to these people and don't be surprised if one day the people of the US wake up to a tyrant.

Your party needs new candidates. The one's you've got are doddering old fools, or idiots promising to do more of the very crap that got Trump elected the first time.

 

Because politicians are all whores, and they all own stock in the companies who pushed for free trade. They knew that China allowed sweatshops, and that free trade with China would allow companies to outsource jobs to China and pay workers pennies on the dollar, and so they voted for it.

 

Almost any Dem candidate can beat Trump.

He is behind, some in double digits, in nine states he took.

He is not ahead in any state he lost.

He is in early dementia (it's obvious). He won't recover.

 

And 90% of the country doesn't answer there phones and almost nobody is paying attention yet. Oh and Hillary was leading Trump by double digits 2 weeks before the election.

 

I agree emphatically with the President's powers being overly broad, but this has legitimately nothing to do with Trump.

 

Keep telling yourself that.

 

Did you ask this king question when Obama defied law and ordered immigration policy not be enforced and illegalls not be deported?

 

I don't believe our founders ever conceived of a feckless, incompetent, gutless Congress willing to cede power to the Executive branch.

 

Nonsense. He has no such power, and even if he did, he would need to apply it to his and his daughter's various China-based manufacturing concerns.

They didn't write any such laws. This came about via trade agreements, starting during the Nixon administration.

I suppose congress could have passed a law preventing offshoring of American jobs, but it would have been unconstitutional. The only way to prevent such a thing would have been to keep China and other cheap labor markets under economic sanctions.

 

Exactly right. Before that, China was the big, evil communist regime with whom Americans could not do business due to trade sanctions. Those sanctions began to be removed after Nixon's visit, and it didn't take corporate America long to see the huge savings they could get by using Chinese cheap labor instead of unionized American workers.

 

A king? He has no more powers then his predessors in this area. He can certainly suggest they look for new alternatives, and then put sanctions in place keeping them out.

 

Who says Trump wants to be king?

We are in a cold war with China, who is using everything in their power to dominate the world's markets. They want to control shipping lanes in the ocean. They use the power of the Chinese government to steal the intellectual property from every company on the planet.

If we do not stand up to Communist China and end their illegal market practices now, they will dominate the world and control all markets, and your children and grandchildren will suffer greatly. Even Democrats like Sen. Chuck Schumer are behind Trump in this. We need to challenge China, and end their illegal practices.

 

The only one who thinks of Trump as a king is Trump.

 

Because this is what an open free market means. Businesses have the ability to make choices best suited to them and their shareholders.
