Masks are still required in medical facilities and government buildings. Otherwise nothing related to covid is going on around here. Personally I ignored covid from day one. I don't fall prey to hysteria. I'm too old for that.

That is a false statement. It has been known since 1946 that masks are not effective against airborne flu virus transmission.

Fauci told us the same thing in the initial stages back when people still believed him.

It's my opinion, this whole covid mess, would have been over a year ago, had they not tried to, "stop" it with lockdowns, masks and, fear mongering.

A virus needs to run a natural course, this one, wasn't allowed to do that.

Omicron is the weakest, least deadly of the variants, yet they are acting as though it's the black plague.

    It's called.......gear mongering.

Sounds like you are quite enslaved to the fear, even though you wear a mask and have been vaccinated... Obviously your mask and vaccination are not working...

I live in Los Angeles, so its like Covid is just getting started. Restaurants and gyms require proof of vaccination or a recent negative test. Since I am not vaccinated, I drive a few extra miles to Simi Valley if I want to go to a restaurant or go to the gym. My gym does not require vax or masks. They give you a spray bottle of disinfectant and a clean rag when you walk in. Just clean the weights and machines before and after.

    Yes!
We lived that way as much as possible in 2020 as well. Stayed in most of March 2020 after that, we’ve pretty much lived our lives.

If you're not washing your phone while you wash your hands you aren't doing anything but placating your own personal fears

Don't worry about it. You don't have to wash your hands just because other people do.

N95 masks are effective. 85% effective in fact. The masks that people actually wear are pointless.

Since I am autoimmune compromised, I've been cautious. Then again, we've always avoided crowded spaces when at all possible. I masked for a while, still do for medical facilities and places that require it.

Other than that, and shortages on certain goods, life has been pretty close to pre-pandemic activities.

Actually, It is an airborne virus. It isn't easy to get infected with covid from dirty hands. The epidemiologists were working from zero experience and knowledge of covid in the beginning. They communicated these mitigation efforts based on past experience with other viral infections. Sadly they communicated them very poorly and failed to communicate the better knowledge as it developed. None of the mitigation efforts have reduced viral spread. Only vaccinations have made a difference and private sector doctors were saying that vaccines were the answer more than a year ago. It is always good to wash your hands. But don't expect it to prevent a covid infections.

Yes, its airborne and that was known from day-1, but hand washing reduces the risk. That is a fact. The virus can remain alive for hours on countertops, or door handles so anyone who touches it can get the virus on their hand and can find its way to your mouth, or eye from there.

Sure, and the high-end respirator I used during spray applications on crops also works great, but how many people are wearing those? None

Surgical masks do not stop the airborne transmission of virus. The masks worn by the public do not either.

The wearing of masks is about showing submission, fear and superstition, nothing more.

Me neither, at least to the extent that society would let me. I have refused, from the start to live in fear or let this ruin my life.

As far as my community is concerned, most aren't wearing masks anymore. A few businesses still have the masks required sign up, but most customers are ignoring it and the staff no longer enforces it. I think perhaps they've realized a tough, belittling policy wasn't good for business. I think most people are just over covid. Except maybe those who don't want to go back to work and want another handout from the government.

Where I live, folks don't think much about it anymore. Folks are proportionally highly vaccinated, no one masks anymore, folks don't socially distance, and surprisingly, we have an almost 30% positive covid rate among those who get tested for it. And yet, hospitals aren't full, schools remain open for in person learning, and life is going on.

There are a lot of folks who agree with me that Omicron is the cure. It might make you have some symptoms, but the chances of severe reactions to it remain unseen and unquantified, so folks aren't much worried. Turn on the local news, however, and it's all they screech about. And yet, the public don't seem to be listening anymore to the hysteria. Perhaps this is what is now necessary. Folks will be exposed to Omicron, won't have symptoms or very mild symptoms (which the data all suggest is the case) and folks will naturally attain antibody immunity to it. And, as many medical folks have relayed, will retain long term antibody memory cellularly to fight off future variants. We can hope.

I had a period of about a couple weeks where I made some adjustments, then after realizing that COVID was no big deal, I returned back to normal. I don't wear a mask. I don't socially distance. I visit whoever I want whenever I want. I have not received any of the jabs (nor will I ever be coerced or forced into it). FJB can kiss my ass. Tyrant Tony (Evers) can kiss my ass.

Of course. I'm too old to get hung up on the covid hysteria.
