Actually, the slave trade had flourished for many hundreds (thousands?) of years in Africa, before most Europeans had even moved out of caves and developed beyond the level of "stone knives and bearskins".

But the emotional momentum for "reparations" is deflated a lot by pointing out that it was Black Africans who routinely enslaved other Black Africans long before Europeans even "discovered" the Dark Continent. :nerd:

I didn't say you were responsible, I was appealing to group ethical obligations......maybe that is why you do not get it, see#483

You mention the Barbary pirates taking European slaves. Do you know who the Barbary pirates were and why they raided European coasts for slaves?

Because those very Barbary pirates were the guys that were exiled from Spain during the Spanish inquisition, if they were lucky enough to escape Ferdinand and Isabella genocide against the Moors and Jews who ruled Spain gloriously for hundreds of years, bringing Europe out of the dark age.

St Patrick. You know him right? He was a Welshman during the times of Christ who was captured in Wales by Irish slavers. He was raised as a slave in Ireland and later taught the holy scriptures to the British. So it was actually the Irish who were the slavers.

The Bible states that those who lead another into captivity shall go into captivity. The Irish should have no complaints, since they started the slave raids, much like the Europeans started the hostility towards the Moors (Barbary pirates) with the inquisition.

Please provide your source for "black Africans enslaving black Africans" before europeans entered west Africa.

I'm guessing here that you won't be able to do that...

Nobody is insisting you personally have to pay. We are stating that the institutions, the corporate bodies that are around today, who built their business model off of the profits from their slave trading and investment, should be the ones who pay reparations.

Do you object to Goldman Sachs, Barclays, Lloyds etc paying reparations, because they have admitted to profiting from investments in the slave plantations.

    Truly well said Esau......
our history is astonishingly complex but I feel that information is now coming out that can pave the way for slavery in all of its many forms to become scary to those who are in an economic position where they can drive many others into poverty and generally a life of near slavery conditions.

Helen Wambach Ph. D. regressed 1088 people roughly four thousand years in time back in the 1960's and her volunteers saw themselves reincarnate all over the ethnic, religious, and racial spectrum.... [as well as both men and as women]. The tendency for the rich to enslave the poor depends on Atheism..... and a total lack of understanding of what the Jews term the Gilgul Cycle. Dr. Ian Stevenson did some fascinating research related to this topic as well.

One near death experiencer did an amazing job of summarizing the topic.

I'll be delighted give you a few links to sites that provide ample documentation for "Black-on-Black" slavery inside the continent of Africa -- but first, please provide the information you've referred to over and over about "concentration camps" in the United States for Negroes. You haven't done that yet, even though I've asked you for locations, dates, or just about any factual information. C'mon, Esau, fair is fair... I asked you first!

Now, if you can't do that, or won't, then consider our conversation about this topic at an end. See ya!

yeah I do because that money is owned by their shareholders who had nothing to do with slavery. I completely oppose the concept of group guilt or debts etc. and it's moronic to pretend that only American blacks are somehow special.

So you've got no source for black Africans enslaving black Africans" before europeans entered west Africa."

I'll admit that I totally made up the fact America had slave plantations (concentration camps)

They should withdraw because they're profiting from a business built on slavery.

It was in reply to your statement, "No one in the USA is a slave and no one owes them anything". So by your standard, your statement is not part of the discussion then, lol.

By Googling "black on black slavery in africa" you can find enough factual information (and fact-based blogs) to provide much information about the ancient practice among black tribes in Africa to make war upon each other, and for the victors to enslave the vanquished. I don't pretend that these three links I've provided are "conclusive", but they are quite persuasive, and even you may agree that they are:

    https://ldhi.library.cofc.edu/exhib.../introductionatlanticworld/slaverybeforetrade
    https://www.wsj.com/articles/when-the-slave-traders-were-african-11568991595
    https://www.cfr.org/blog/confronting-africas-role-slave-trade

I'll conclude here by saying I'm surprised that you say you "made up the fact America had slave plantations"! Esau, our American history DOES clearly indicate that there were many privately-owned plantations that were populated with large numbers of Negro slaves! I'm astonished that you would say otherwise, but, of course, there were no "concentration camps" run by the Confederate States of America, or any governmental body in North America.

Anyway, the whole rotten, sickening practice of Negro slavery in the U. S. ended in 1865, and ALL of us today can agree that was one of the very best things that ever happened in our national history, although it came with the cost of well over 600,000 casualties in our Civil War.

There are neither slaves nor slave owners alive today; thus, the whole "reparations" initiative is just an opportunistic venture intended to gain its schemers and promoters political advantage with those who would collect.

Opened the .com page and it requires a paid subscription, not sure how you know what that entails, unless you're a subscriber, which idoubt.

I'm not opening the.org pages, could be malware. Can you provide a .com source, which are secure sites, thanks.

that's disingenuous: we both know the discussion is about those whose ancestors were African slaves

Then why say, "No one in the USA" is a slave?. Have you got a clue on what you're saying? Why feck up a thread with "impaired intellectual development" comments?

Ok just googled "black on black slavery in Africa" and nothing came up from before europeans invaded west Africa.

Looks like you just pulled it out of yo poopa. You don't even care do you, most authentic historians would research and have archives saved beforehand but not liberal conservative s noooo. They just mimic the bubbles narrative.

Well, yes, and today only Negroes (the ones whose ancestors were actually slaves, or not) are the only ones clamoring to be paid or given "reparations" by the rest of us.

To my knowledge, the only "reparations" ever paid to an ethnic group because of injustices or grievances, were paid, properly (IMHO) to Japanese-Americans. This action was called the "Japanese American Evacuation Claims Act of July 2, 1948": https://www.archives.gov/research/j...on Claims, claims totaling $142,000 were filed.

It should be remembered, though, that this whole matter was because of actions taken by the Government of the United States of America, not by another government, "plantation owners", etc.

You must not have tried very hard, and I'm weary of trying to convince you of what is right there, for all to see. But, as the old saying goes, "There are none so blind as those who will not see!" I gave you links, and indicated dozens of others, but you chose not to look into them. I gave you a 'search' macro, but now you say that you found nothing (?) in any of that about African Negroes taking other African Negroes as slaves before the arrival of Europeans there? You're playing with me, Esau, and I'm tired of it. Go play with someone else. ;)
