When the Woman's FIFA World Cup was to begin, I predicted the women's team will go no further than the quarterfinals. They don't have a strong team compared to the rest of the field with a mixture of newbies and veterans on the team for the World Cup. Playing soccer, or football as the world calls it, has nothing to do with "being hostile" to America or exercising their first amendment rights under the FIFA rules. Other than that, Trump is just throwing mud at the wall to see what sticks and nothing more.

 

By linking the loss to "what is happening to our great nation" type of argument. It is just a game, not life or death in a very literal sense here. And yes, the woman's team lost in a penalty shootout with one of the penalty kicks being nullified by the ref in that match. We lost 6 to 5 in that penalty kick in order to advance to the Quarterfinals. This is the largest Women's World Cup ever, and the format was different than any of the past. Usually there are 16 teams, with 8 advancing to the quarter finals, then to the semi finals, and then to the finals.

Its sad that they'd trash Team USA on the world stage, because by doing that they trash the US as whole. Its a show of divisiveness, - exactly the opposite of what we need, but division is the pseudo-conservative platform so its not surprising.

About half of America is anti- your America. Just as you and half of America are anti- my America. You can have unity or diversity but you can't have both. I was glad to see America lose and I was happy to see the POS miss her shot and cost her team the game. TBH my level of engagement in American national teams has dropped to absolute zero over the last decade. I no longer see them as a representation of me or my America and as such have become ambivalent to mildly hostile to them. The only reason I knew the game even occurred was the youtubers I love were clowning mercilessly on the team. Cheers to Megan, hopefully we never hear her about again.

Well, clearly you know absolutely diddly about soccer.
The USNWT is ranked number one in the world by FIFA, and have won the last two world cups (with all the woke players on the roster mind you). They have won 4 out of the 8 world cups played. An absolutely unprecedented 4 losses out of 54 matches played in the World Cup.
They lost to the 3rd ranked team in the world in a match they dominated and would have won for it not for an exceptional amount of great saves by the Swedish goalie. Football is a sport where the better team is by no mean guaranteed a win (some sports like rugby have a very high win rate by the better team, some like baseball have a very low rate. Football is in between the two) so this is not "shocking". This match is known as a 'hold-up' where the clearly better team ends up losing. But shocking it ain't (disappointing, yes).
The level of ignorance, hubris, and gall of this post is pretty high. I guess we will wait for your scintillating follow up: Tom Brady, stop pitching products and focus on your craft. Djokovic: no more speaking out for you, it clearly is ruining your game etc....

 

I have watched womens soccer and enjoyed it but this team gave us nothing to feel good about. They chose not to represent the US so I chose not to care much about how they did.

 

Yeah right. Athletes cannot chew gum and walk at the same time lol. Like I said, I did not expect them to go past the quarterfinals. They did not have a strong team IMO compared to the international field. And that was reflected on the qualifying matches that they played. They tied on a couple of games in which they should have won.
