Came across this from the texas observer: Surly washington is going to do something about this immediately? https://www.texasobserver.org/chip-doctor-texas-kids/
"As a pediatrician, I provide these scowling little freeloaders..." Wow. Sounds like this doctor needs a new profession. If this is even legit. I hope it isn't.
He seems to have more issues than ungrateful children patients. However, I ask my doctors about Obamacare and such and they do complain about those who get free care who abuse the system and will pressure them to write scripts for over the counter medicines so that they can get them free, just as an example.
There are people who become doctors for the money and status, not because they care about people. One of the reasons a national health care system is resisted in America is because being a doctor may no longer be the road to being wealthy. Though I think doctors are highly educated and provide one of the most important services, I don't see why it should be a path to wealth, that wealth is what motivates them. The reason you wait so long when you go to the doctor is because the more patients a doctor has, the more money he/she makes. They over book people, not giving each patient appointment enough time because they have so many patients they want to get through each day. You go to the doctor and wait and wait, then see him/her for just a few minutes. Yes, the doctor is very busy, busy because he/she has too many people on his/her patient list. The more patients, the more money.
Send this assclown to the front line and have him serve as a medic who makes pittance. That will adjust his attitude about being a doctor. And that is to save lives. Did he took the hypocrisy oath by mistake??
Depressing isn’t it? I mean, the whole article was playing on that so even people who followed the link and glanced at it would have missed the point (studies have shown that the majority of people reading an article online never reach the end). I suspect they were going for the viral reaction so their actual point came through in the responses to it. Unfortunately, I think it was too subtle to work.
So this doctor is upset because the freeloaders will lose government funds and he will have to treat them for free? Aww, poor baby. Welcome to the real socialist dream Doc. Suck it up if you voted for obama.
I read the highly deceptive OP, but not the badly written attached op-ed until now. (I sometimes don't if I don't recognize the source.) The original poster engaged in multiple violations and deceptions in an attempt to bait and troll, and that's unfortunate and a waste of everyone's time. But I guess that's why there's an ignore feature here. For those who still haven't read forum rules, you establish a basis for respectful debate by clearly elaborating on a theme in an attached article or video. You don't play games by both misrepresenting the content and failing to provide any meaningful basis for discussion. Trolling diminishes the quality of the forum for all concerned.
The attached piece is very poorly written, but the depressing thing is that the OP sought to troll posters here rather than show respect and follow basic rules.
Probably isn't... "As a pediatrician, I provide these scowling little freeloaders with life-saving therapies like vaccinations and antibiotics. I test their hearing and make sure any hearing loss is caught while it can still be corrected. I make sure kids with developmental delays get into therapy early so they’re ready to compete by the time they reach kindergarten." Those services can all be provided by a nurse practitioner.
Hi Margot - I'm afraid you've been trolled by the OP as well. The badly written attachment is actually a "letter from America," and the unclear point is that healthcare is a basic right. I'm getting discouraged by the trolling here.
Oh, I see, you want this "most important service" but don't want the person providing this service to be compensated as if it's important. You need your money for more important things like electronic devices and internet so you can whine about other peoples' success
I agree the article itself was intentionally very leading (as I said, I suspect it was written with knee-jerk controversy in mind). I disagree with the attack on the OP though, who commented about “Washington doing something” which only makes sense in the context of the actual funding issue and quoted in bold the key point at the end of the article. I understand people being angry that they were tricked by the article but that anger shouldn’t be aimed at the OP but used as an emotional driver to read things more carefully before reacting.
You're not alone - the attached piece is VERY badly written, and the OP was trolling/failing to follow basic forum rules, so it's confusing.
Naw. The OP was trolling/baiting plain and simple; read the rules. And "people aren't angry about being tricked" as far as I know. It's just another example of the blatant trolling here, and that trolling significantly diminishes the quality of the forum. So yeah, following the good rules is good. Being a troll, not so much. Both sides are guilty, and it's really unfortunate.
No, thanks to Trumpworld. I have to wonder of some folks even think about what they post! If this doctor winds up treating children for free, it will be BECAUSE of the GOP and Trump, who cut the funding for the CHIP's program without repealing laws requiring emergeny rooms to treat people with no insurance for free. If that's the socialist dream you're referring to, you should be congradulating yourself for being for making things worse for millions of people.
I'm noticing a trend in here. People that don't like an OP just scream troll and run. Then they claim rule violations and refuse to answer any and all questions or participate in any way. That's not how debate works or how this forum is supposed to work.
The trend, sadly, is more trolling OPs. And that trolling is sometimes called out, yes. And "how debate works" is set out in the rules here, which are simple and clear. The OP violated these rules in multiple ways in favor of trolling us. If you want respectful debate, don't troll. Easy peasy.
