I have been reading this thread and now I am totally confused. Are you saying ...
    a) It's OK for Israel to invade another peoples land, Then to kick off those that have lived their lives there, to deny them access to medical facilities etc. To create international terrorism (Israel taught terrorism to the world), to create an atmosphere of international hatred of a people for just trying to protect their property. because
    b) Some Islamic countries take their religion a little too far. The suppression of women is fundamental to Christian and Jewish religions just as it is amongst Muslims except they take it more literal and as all their religious rights, are more fervent.

I personally think both are wrong, but when the state actually occupies another's territory, that is war, whilst the other is a human rights issue.

As for human rights issues Australia isn't much better then other countries, but how you can use that to justify Israel's invasion of Palestinian land is ridiculous and clutching at straws.

Palestinians rejected their own state, went to war, lost, and never tried to make peace, having started a war and refusing peace is naturally not good for the amount of land you have.

The Palestinians created, and still create their own suffering.

Eh? Its not because its different ethnicities, its because theyre different peoples.

For example, if palestinians were also jews, lets say arab jews in the west bank who wanted no part of israel and objected to zionism, the problem would be exactly the same - an international one.

Arabs suppression of arabs receives less attention not because they arabs, we also give less attention to chinese suppression of chinese, or russian suppression of russians.

Its the difference between internal and external matters. Is that clear enough for you? Something else need explaining or are you just going to close your ears?

Internal suppression is only a wider problem for observers like us when it has internation implications.

Theres no difference for folks "like us". Its a double standard.

Most of our "propalestinians" wont go out on limb to defend China or Russia when confronted with the obvious abuses in these places...but make the abusive regime middle eastern and all of sudden theres a host of reasons the abuse is either OK or fabricated entirely...while of course slipping in the prerequisite antiIsrael slander.

Youre not explaining anything really. Your reiterating the same nonsense again and again. Im explaining there are double standards. The standards are human rights abuse and open criticism. Makes no difference which flavor it is, whats important is that it is happening at all.

Israelis have their nation in Israel and thus there is no need for them to attack hated Semites in the nation of Palestine. If Israelis want to expand illegal settlements, then they can ask Obama for permission to do so in Texas.

well lets try the 6 days in 1967, Israel took the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria. for a start, sure seems like an invasion to me.

and I am totally confused at how people can be so inhumane to their fellow man. The world we live in is becoming smaller, we are growing in intelligence (well some of us are) so why can't we grow up and live together. We have one planet, it doesn't seem that in the foreseeable future we are going to find another one, so we better learn to live together.

Lets deal with one fact first. The political left, which supports palestinians, has also supported tibetans against the chinese and the tiannenmen square people and a range of others.

In fact across the world the same people who support the palestinians also give their support to various human rights causes across the world. Do you really think the people for example working for amnesty international are against the palestinians?

Moreover you are outright deceptive when you describe people here as somehow saying that middle eastern suppression is ok. Thats rubbish. You have made that up to support your line. Am I clear enough here for you?

You havent explained why there isnt really a difference between the internal and the external. Youve said there are double standards as if somehow there shouldnt be double standards between internal and external matters - ive given you the examples as to why this is so. You have refused to contradict them.

You seem to think that because people openly criticise human rights abuses between israelis and palestinians they should also equally criticise for example egyptian internal suppression because after all its human beings. The trouble with that nonsense is this - if you extended protest and criticism to every internal situation you wouldnt even get out of europe or america. Youd then have to stop on every country in the world to criticise some aspect of internal policy.

By the way, your known for your oppostion to chavez. So if for some reason Honduras makes a raid on Venezuela, youd feel it pertinent to mention Venezuelan internal political 'suppression' or its poor economic policy would you?

The Egyptian military dictatorship should schedule elections now as they previously promised.
