If you think the ACA was designed to care for you, good luck to you also. A vote for Biden is a return to the broken ACA.
I'm older than 50 (and then some) and I will vote for him again. What I don't understand is how anyone could have watched all the useless crap the Democrats have put this country through and still vote Democrat. What should have been the deal breaker was the march of the flying monkeys taking their oh so serious impeachment papers to the WH. Biden, there is nothing there and they are gaming their voters with a Trojan Horse in this election. Biden can't function and even he knows it. Harris can barely contain her glee at the prospect of being President.
Whether you like Trump, or not, the point is that there's no good reason to lock down everyone from engaging in economic transactions because of a disease that primarily harms people who already have diseases. Excess deaths by suicide in young people have now surpassed those that have died from COVID. So, do the elderly matter or the young? If you are going to take sides, then you get one or the other, not both.
Well unless you don't take in to account, agenda, election and hatred then it's easy to see what's really beneath the pungent tarry layers
Not on my list of priorities! I'll take anyone willing to spur the economy at any cost, create opportunity, jobs and a atmosphere of independence rather then the 100 years of welfare and dependency culture they "Democrat politician" have elected to farm voted from..
Wtf are you talking about? 200,000 excess suicides Among young people? You need to document that buddy
Insurance mandates are not healthcare. All ACA did was subsidize and bailout the insurance industry. It was a tax on the people.
People who couldn't afford the higher premiums and deductibles still didn't have healthcare. Not only that, but the government slapped them with a hefty IRS fine for not being able to afford an expensive mandated product. Thank goodness, Trump got rid of the insulting individual mandate.
I still recall Pelosi's, "You have to pass it to see what's in it." The bill that passed was 2300 pages and it was submitted for a vote too late for any Congressmen to possibly have time to read it. I tried to read it, but there were links to other legislation in almost every paragraph which turned 2300 pages to 20,000 pages if you tried to dig into all the underlying links. What a scam deal.
Harry Reid put it best. The ACA was not supposed to work. It was a step into the direction of a single payer system. As in Socialized Medicine that has failed in every large country it has been attempted in. Look at Canada for example. Those that have money come to the US for treatment. Those that do not have the money waits on a list. They hope their number comes up before the die. All to often it doesn't. The ACA was passed with a known flaw. It was the reason that Pelosi wanted to push a vote through before the Congress had a chance to read it. That flaw was that it gave the Insurance Companies that covered Preexisting conditions a bailout. The flaw was that the funds for the bailout was not appropriated. In other words, the bailout was unfunded. There were no provisions to pay for the bailout. That is why insurance companies pull out of the program.
I think it's fair to ask whether it was actually CDC guidelines or was it a watered down retracted version of the original guidelines.
Statistically, those killed by it are more likely going to be old people with other issues creating comorbidity situations or people vulnerable to the storm syndrome of overactive immune system responses. Sucks for them, but it is a good thing for society as a whole that it is an increasingly manageable illness.
There's a way to do both, provide for your family and modify your behavior to reduce the risk of those you come in contact with. Why must it only be one way. Our families may be impacted without our knowing until years down the road. This is what this virus does depending on the individual. Some it kills, others it makes slightly ill with residual effects, and others may recover without long lasting health issues. We simply do not know at this point so why not be cautious.
Some insurers pulled out, and sued, and won. All those mandated new customers and tax penalties pushed onto the backs of citizens who couldn't afford the higher insurance costs still failed to cover all of the increased expenses of government interference in the health care market. Government healthcare: more expensive, less actual health care. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...rers-12-billion-under-obamacare-idUSKCN2291Y3
It started to get a Medicare system for everybody but Democrats couldn't work out the details so this is what came out of it. Everyone blamed Insurance companies for the mess but it was always meant to be a method that made sure providers were paid. The expanded Medicaid covered a lot of the family visits to the emergency room for colds and flu and that was/is a huge bill to pay. Of course it was being paid by State and County systems who then tripled charges to patients who were insured. Hate it or love it Obamacare has changed our system and the financial end of it works a bit better today.
True. That was a one time deal. Biden wants to tweak the ACA and keep it intact. The individual mandate is gone, the bailout of the insurance companies are gone. All that is left is some policies that are way overpriced, and forces people to pay for services that they do not need. Further, the ACA was supposed to ensure that there are no uninsured Americans. At the time of it's passing, there were 46.5 million uninsured Americans. Today there are about 30 million. So, the program spent billions to only accomplish a third of it's goal. It is a failed program, and Biden wants to renew it.
I think I know what you're saying. Before and after the Baby Boomer generation we didn't have such a "bubble" of having lots of children. It is kind of sad, but that explosion of babies in that generation are now "old people". Unfortunately a lot of things kill old people, whether it's the flu, other health conditions, or a novel virus. It always has been the case and always will be the case.
