    President Donald Trump attempted to downplay the coronavirus pandemic on Monday as the U.S. death toll approached 200,000 by saying it affects “elderly people with heart problems and other problems.”

    “That’s what it really affects,” Trump said during a campaign rally in Ohio. “That’s it.”

    He literally said "Virtually no one gets the virus"

    How can anyone over 50 vote for this cretin? How can ANYONE?

    I"m 69, and none of my friends are. I sure as hell am not. I think anyone who votes for Trump has been duped, conned, and just don't understand the threat to American's health and national security that Trump poses. As long as Trump packs the court with hard line right wingers, they don't give a damn, and they can't see that, with this president, America is in decline, it's well established 'liberal democracy' is being chipped away at. In fact, 40% of America is so uneducated they do not even know what 'liberal democracy' means, they think, if someone utters 'liberal democracy' , they think it's something dreamed up by Pelosi. I mean, 'Madison, Hamilton" ? Who the **** are they? Well, liberal democracy ---. It's taking a nose dive. China and Russia are getting bolder and stronger, and that is because Donald Trump is weak and wisdom deficient. Trump's idea of 'tough' is to browbeat cities and states who do not vote for him, and order militia groups around like what he thinks a tough guy is supposed to do. He is a simpleton, he has no business being president, and our nation suffers for it and 40% of the nation are gullible that they only hear his propagandistic spiel, and nothing else. They are oblivious to what is happening around them.

    Is it worth wrecking the lives of the young to make the elderly slightly safer?

    As an oldish person myself, the thought of my children sacrificing their futures so that I may be just a few percentage points safer horrifies me.

    But some old geezers are more selfish about it I guess.

    Of course, he is one of those who thinks it is only the others who are old. Because HE was chosen by god to have great genes that make him better and younger than the plebs. How seniors can still vote for the GOP after almost a year of their covid policies, throwing seniors under the bus for the Trump economy, is beyond me. However, they will still vote for him in droves.

    I'm sure there were lots of 50+ people in the audience, most of them with pre-diabetes and borderline high blood pressure, who were cheering him on loudly while he was saying it.

    They were probably thinking about the well being their children, and their grandchildren, and the progress and prosperity of the nation, rather than just saving their own hides. That's probably why they were cheering.

    I choose to sacrifice FOR MINE. I will accept a slightly higher risk for myself, it it spares my children, and my nation, the bad consequences of lockdowns.

    But some old geezers are more selfish about it I guess.

    Lockdowns have consequences, bad consequences.

    Do you deny that? Is that "tripe"?
