Electric vehicle battery factory will require so much energy it needs a coal plant to power it!

Facts and context matter to me. I can understand though, why they don't matter to you. Of course, feel free to blow (burnt tire) smoke all day long. Be my guest...

Now for the educated and thoughtful readers of this thread this is about how China approaches things not EVs

Abandoned cars, abandoned bikes, abandoned cities, incredible food waste. Welcome to a burgeoning capitalist economy.

Okay, if you go to 100% renewables in a little more than a year, why do you still need coal plants?

Redundancy, energy diversity, security, peak demand. Overall electricity demand will continue to increase.

We also need more efficient ways to store the energy for night use and no wind.

What does having all that redundancy do to user's bills? That's got to make unnecessarily expensive.

Probably. The free market will have a decent amount of influence though. Unlike China, where in the examples given above it was a centralized government mandate.that produced, for example, a lot of cheap electric vehicles that were soon superseded. That's the point I was trying to make to Jack (who seems to have disappeared from the thread). The op seems to have disappeared as well.

You've asked a lot of questions. What do you think the path forward is? Back to where we were, presumably?

A command economy is the only way to achieve rapid widespread EV use.

Sure. "Global warming" is still an overblown disproven con and I've never seen any legitimate evidence it's real. It's a simple totalitarian political con game.

Crushing CO2 production in the name of that con, however, is a flat out disaster for all humanity and must be stopped.

I mean we will need to transition. You would he a whole hell of a lot further toward that if you didn’t have a Republican Party.

I'm not like you. I prefer to actually know how things work. Not just read what the IPCC says about how they think things work.

Sooooo - you prefer an unreferenced blog telling you what you would like to hear over a meta analysis and systematic review of literature?

No, I'm an engineer. I prefer things that make technical sense and are properly empirical and proven through experimentation. Meta analysis and systematic reviews of literature are useless distractions that can easily be rigged to say anything the author wants. And I have no use whatsoever for an over-reliance on modeling.

    Got any of that?

I have to ask - do you know what I am talking about when I use the terms meta analysis and systematic reviews?

Sure. Do you know what I'm talking about when I say empirical or experimentation?
