First off the Cuban Embargo was imposed under the Kennedy Administration, the great icon of Democratic Politics, JFK all you need to type. All serious Democrats have agreed in the past that a Democratic President is the one that should bite the bullet on this issue. Now I understood Clinton, alot thought he would lift the embargo and I do think he came close but politics being politics and Florida sitting there, I understand the rather mess that could be on election day. Now we are in '11 going into the '12 elections and the polls are showing Florida is lost to Obama, I mean it is worst there then in overall national numbers by some significance. I think of late that Administration showed its cards and it could be worst in private polling. With Florida out of contention for Obama and the media doesn't seem to be holding out hope either so its a lost cause, why not go ahead and lift the ban? The major State that this has influence is, is in Florida. Democrats have been hollowing about this for years now, I remember them complaining under Carter about this, so Obama lift the F'ing embargo.
Yeah, it's time to lift the embargo. I'm hoping it happens after Castro dies. If he dies, the way things are he'll probably keep going even if he was just a head in a jar like in Futurama. We'll have a brand new labor market to exploit that's close to home and we won't need China anymore and we can outsource away from China into Cuba lifting their quality of life, and allowing me to flee Democratic Domestic Tyranny the old fashion way. By buying off a totalitarian banana Republic.
The embargo was imposed because the US lost a military battle at the Bay of Pigs with Cuban fighters. It should never have been imposed to begin with.
Are you sure Florida is lost to Obama? I remember Rick Scott and what he did to Columbia HCA.. I can't imagine that Floridians haven't figured out that he's NOT the right stuff.
First off, November 2012 is a LONG way off, and despite Obamas low polling right now (in the middle of a recession that will be long over late next year), the fact that even this low, the most any theoretical GOP candidate can do is a neck and neck with him is pretty telling of the rights position as his opponent. He'll win in a landslide when its all said and done. Secondly, not only should we lift the Cuban embargo (upon Castro's death), but Cuba should become our 51st state. Given new infrastructure and a commitment to economic growth, Cuba could be a tourism/money hog for the US at the federal and state level. As a Communist nation under embargo, it is suffering financially. But with open borders, open trade, and taxed assets from the island, it could be an economic powerhouse Hawaii could only dream of being. Make it happen.
Oh yes Im quite certain that the national old age home of the USA (Florida) is going to vote for the GOP candidate. They can hardly wait to have Medicare ended, Obama care ended, and tax rates decreased for rich people. Obama is dead in the water in FLA.
As much as old people like to claim that they are conservative (both in values and fiscally), that only rings true in regards to young peoples values and finances. You watch and see how many cane wielding electric wheelchairs come down on Washington if they cut a dime from Medicare or Social Security. If a GOP actually did win the White House (nearly impossible right now) and cut those things, they would be dead to old people across the country. Old People LOVE Medicare and Social Security.
We lifted all kinds of embargos and trade restictions on China.... Why the hell we have them with Cuba is beyond reason.
I was being sarcastic with respect to my FLA comments. I support the policies of the Democrats 100 % - I am a LIBERAL and I am CANADIAN !
Well considering Obama and his looney toons d-baggers just cut 500 million out of Medicare I'm not sure who they are going to blame if cuts in Medicare comes up? I mean blame the Rep's who fought against it or blame the guys that actually cut it? Oh that's right that didn't happen did it so says "the d-baggers" but it is there for the whole world too see.
