There's a rumor going around that the casinos here are making a deal to open up with the governor. They are going to call back employees 49 and younger, and only allow visitors 49 and younger at first, and slowly up the age until there are no restrictions.

The casinos closed at midnight March 16. A month is a hell of a long time to go without work and a paycheck.

Every state should have opened as soon as the Congress left Washington without funding the small businesses and workers thrown out of work by government mandate.

 

Arkansas governor announced today that we will open in Phase 1 on May 4th!

 

The states that have felt very little impact seem like a great place to start. If it fails, the damage will be minimal and we get an idea of where we are. (I don't mean that to be unkind or sarcastic.) If it works, it could be a template. Texas is doing the same thing.

I hope everyone proceeds with extremely cautious optimism.

You know what else kills a lot of people........... poverty.

 

Odd for a country that was supposedly doing so well economically can't afford to feed their population whereas in a country that was not doing well economically (UK) is managing to pay every furloughed employee 80% of their wage up to £2500/month and will do so for at least 4 months when a review will take place. Plus all business rates have also been cancelled for a year, all taxes due this year deferred until next year, all businesses that would have been paying business rates given up to £25000 grant.

Our county facebook page posted today that while our governor has set May 4th as opening date for phase one, they aren't sure we've flattened it as expected in our county because we had recent third case. Yes, that's right, a third positive!

The first two were 4 or 5 weeks ago and both recovered, and now a 3rd! Holy hysterics!
