According to media reports, an economics professor at New York University's Nouriel Roubini ( one of the financial genius species whose opinions should always be considered seriously ) and Eurasia Group President Ian Bremmer in a joint interview for the International Economic Forum in Davos to the magazine Foreign Policy demanded to expel Russia from the BRICS, indicating that this country is not worthy of place among the five leading developing countries in BRICS.

"Russia doesn't deserve to be in the BRICS -- they really don't. They're so consolidated around a single individual; their governance is so poor, so opaque, so corrupt.

You've had years in the past where Medvedev and Putin have gotten up and they've given really great speeches. This time around, everyone knows that they're running into elections that are going to be a bit of a farce; that those demonstrations are not going to matter very much. Russia has been left behind, despite all its commodity wealth.

It really hasn't done anything else right compared to the other BRICS. They're a big loser", indicated Mr. Bremmer.

Prof. Roubini agreed with his opinion:

"I agree that Russia might not be left among the BRICS. Actually, I wrote an article about a year ago saying that maybe they should drop Russia and add Indonesia.

I felt quite positive about Indonesia when I visited there recently, and I am going to go soon again. Another rising power outside of the BRICS is Turkey".

I can't see it happening for political reasons even though these two guys are technically correct in their view .
It's just possible that the two dwarves might get some feed back and one day they might let a ***** of daylight in . Very doubtful , but we should all hope .

Raymondo, a lot of people -- me, among others -- don't take Roubini that serious.

    Por ejemplo:

The Place of Russia is among the African banana states, not in BRIC.

Why do you worry so much? BRICS is not formal association. This is not NATO, not EU or something similar. It's just a group of countries with different political interests.

What makes you think we are worried?
Commenting on something does not in itself imply "worry".
And do you think it is just possible that you are not the only person to know what NATO and the EU represent , and how they differ in key respects from BRICS or BIICs , as it should be .
Have you run across the acronym TOSS--ER ?

Potap, as a fellow European, I deeply apologize for Raymondo's lack of manners and class.

    Take care, Oleg.

    Kind regards,

    Jan.

No amount of attempted creeping or affectation can save your reputation now , Janpoor. I think OLeg is a big enough boy to take care of himself without the extra burden of a stateless adolescent to hold him back .

If Russia is excluded from BRICS, we shall be left with BICS, not BRICS, unless Russia is replaced by Rwanda or Romania.

If Russia is replaced by Indonesia and Turkey, we shall have BICSIT, not BRICS.

One option is to replace Russia with the US (if the dollar continues to fall), and we shall have BICUS, not BRICS.

The last option is to exclude all the five countries from BRICS one by one, and well, can any genius tell us the appropriate name of the "new" group after all the member nations are excluded?

The entirely discussion is retarded because in difference to China, Brazil and India Russia possess neither manufacturing nor science anymore, it is a country where a bunch of highly corrupted officials sell its commodities and bunker the stolen money in off-shores. There are only very few differences between Nigeria, Russia or Zimbabwe, therefore the right place for this former strong and rich country is only among African Commodity Dictatorships. After New Ten Years of Putin even African countries will probably fire poor Russia from all their organizations. Be realistic, after ten years of Putin Russia can make nothing except selling of Gaz or Oil.No one has any interest for this failed state.
