Speech is money, that is long established. But are you saying such groups as I noted cannot run issue ads or express their political views or hold events to support their views and yes even lobby in state houses and the Capital Hill for their causes?
Clovis was the supervisor. http://dailycaller.com/2017/10/30/how-did-george-papadopoulos-end-up-on-the-trump-campaign/
Very true. Trump was obviously helped by 2 things that have nothing to do with campaign expenditures: Universal name recognition and visibility from being on a long-running TV show.
My point was that the Trump campaign did show interest in a meeting, just not with Trump himself. The plea agreement shows an email trail where Papadopolous and another (possibly Page?) were encouraged to go to Russia.
More likely Manafort. One wonders if the arrangements he was trying to make were because he was wearing a wire.
They also say once it got up to the real players in the campaign the squashed it. I really can't see how anyone could say this was anything but a good job by the upper levels of the Trump campaign. At least we don't have a lot of high ranking officials all saying I didn't know anything about the 9 million paid. The hypocrisy is very rich in this political debate.
It could have been Lewandowski, for all I know. We'll find out eventually. Clovis is in some hot water too, I think. I read somewhere that at least 50 sealed indictments came out of the DC Grand Jury and more in EDVA and NY. Of course, that's not official info. I do expect this is going to be as involved as Watergate and there was something like 70ish indictments, and 50+ convictions. Since the Russian contact with Papadopolous started in April 2016 and he wasn't arrested until August 2017, I doubt he was wired, but who knows? His plea deal was early October, 2017, so maybe he was wired from August to October 2017, or maybe he was not wired at all. The FBI has his emails, and they document what he was doing with Russians. I'm fairly sure they have his phone records too.
Eh, I refuted the "squash" with a quote from the plea deal in post #898. The Russian meeting was encouraged, just not with DT. If people lied to Congressional committees about the $9Million, then hold them in contempt of Congress and prosecute. If they lied to the FBI, then I expect them to be charged. Admittedly, I have not read every single post in this entire thread, but I am not seeing the hypocrisy you mentioned. I don't even see this as a political debate as much as it is a legal conversation.
Could you please point out the line in the Citizen's United decision that says corporations are people? I've no doubt you think that because you've heard it thousands of times, but the decision had nothing to do with that.
If they weren't people then they wouldn't be protected by free speech laws. That's where that claim comes from.
Maybe so but pretty good speculation since nothing else is an indicator of collusion which the investigation is supposed to be about.
Steele is still a foreign national that got information from Russians. What is it Trump is supposed to be investigated for again?
Not Papodopolous saying "sweet let's collude"? Or don JR saying the same? Or Manafort calling up Russians to offer inside info on the campaign? The investigation is into Russian meddling, if anyone colluded was more of a side note
No it didn't and the facts are otherwise Trump Campaign Officials Rebuffed Volunteer’s Attempts To Broker Meeting With Russian Government http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/14/t...ts-to-broker-meeting-with-russian-government/ "The email from Papadopoulos was first reported by The Washington Post Monday evening. The Post also reported that Papadopoulos made at least six requests for meetings between top campaign officials and Russian officials over the course of the campaign, but that they were roundly rejected by several members of the campaign...... " A source familiar with the Papadopoulos emails said that Manafort immediately dismissed the idea of meeting with top Russian officials and advised Trump to do the same. Reached for comment, Manafort spokesman Jason Maloni told CNN: "Mr. Manafort's swift action reflects the attitude of the campaign -- any invitation by Russia, directly or indirectly, would be rejected outright. His request that the response come from a low level staffer sent a clear signal that the invitation did not merit consideration. This is concrete evidence the Russia collusion narrative is fake news."" http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/14/politics/george-papadopoulos-russia-trump/index.html And of course the meetings would not have been illegal even if the campaign had accepted the offers. Did the DNC or Clinton campaign turn down the information from Russia obtained by a foreign agent?
What does that have to do with him being a foreign national who the DNC and Clinton campaign used to obtain information from Russia to try and undermine the election? Surely you do not conflate the term foreign national with government official?
Nope and nobody has been arrested for it either, but being so eager to collude explains what made the FBI suspicious
All can about due to the investigation inspired by the dossier. Talking to other countries is not illegal and aren’t the defenders of the dossier claiming it was just opposition research?
