I think the Papadopoulos fellow had a Russian fetish, I read elsewhere repeatedly that the Greek was constantly promoting the idea there should be contacts with Putin's crew (and this was repeatedly dismissed).

I suspect this abusive manner of proceeding was at Mueller's specific direction, that this is how he operates, it is intended to intimidate. Personally I think it is preferable to rely on the force of law, rather than try and intimidate people into compliance.
