Sometimes, yes, sometimes no, depending upon the person. When a liberal does it though, it is always a very emphatically YES.

You people are putting an awful lot of faith in our founder as being the arbiter of what is racist or not in the Western World, as I believe censored words are chosen by the administrator in any BB sofware

 

You know at one time we had a AA minor league baseball team, the Atlanta Crackers. They played at Ponce De Leon Field. We also had a negro league team way back when named the Atlanta Black Crackers.

I also had some crackers with my chili for supper. Hmm.

 

That was my point too and the words that would be programmed to be censored would have to be familiar to the person that is programming the censored words. For example "gook" can be used like this...She looks ridiculous with all that gook around her eyes, therefore, the programmer would be censoring a perfectly acceptable word and the word "jap" can refer to a Jewish American Princess. Anyway, maybe the OP thinks that the government is overseeing this forum.

You'll have to ask the forum moderators on that one. I don't think any words should be censored on a forum like this, but this particular forum seems to be the most overly moderated and overly censored one I have seen.

 

I wouldn't call it overly moderated, although the bad word nanny does tend to be a bit surprising. It's actually one of the best moderated forums I've ever participated in.

 

Democratic Underground is far worse than this forum.

And exceptionally one sided as well. If you're a conservative they will simply ban you outright if you have any sort of disagreement in any way what so ever.

 

You may have a point, PF does seem to tolerate conservatives and libertarians.

ones race nationality and religion are all protected classes calling some on a name that is demining, degrading, and derogatory to ones nationality or religion is just as wrong and used to have the same effect with the same hate and bigotry as a word used about some ones race

 

it depends how the word redneck is used
blacks have adopted the N word and use it on them selves and in many cases as a word of endearment but doesn't give one the right to use the word in a hateful manner to cause another discomfort or pain
so when I comprised the list im referring those words being used in a demining, degrading, and or derogatory manner to cause another discomfort or pain and suffering
for example when I say I like to go fishing with my redneck buddy he sure knows the outdoors the word redneck isn't being used in a demining, degrading, and or derogatory manner
but when a liberal says those ignorant inbred rednecks he is using that word in a hateful bigoted manner

 

Bullhockey! If you don't like free speech, I can understand. But just saying that people don't have the right to free speech isn't explaining why.

Language can be used for all sorts of reasons, and some of those reasons are not meant to provide comfort.

Yes, of course there is hypocrisy. But let's just not go towards not having the right to use words.

Here on this forum, I understand. There are some words that cause a bit too much discomfort, and some pictures, as well. If they let us do an allah art exhibition, they'd have to close this place down because of the death threats. So there is certainly a double standard. yes, it is hypocritical. Yes, it's not exactly kosher.

I just saw that "doesn't give you the right" bit, and that's going beyond this forum.

There is an easy way to test racism... next time you renew your drivers license, check african-american instead of caucasian... see if they look at the form then do a double-take that you changed it... and see if they either self-correct it without telling you, or refuse to change it after confronting you... tell them you've always been afraid to identify yourself due to racism, but now you feel liberated to accept yourself as who you are... see how well that goes over... will they accept what you say, or is skin color the employee see's the determining factor in if you are able to be african-american or caucasian...

P.S. while I'm thinking of it, did Rachel Dolezal have her drivers license changed to african-america??? and if it's illegal to lie on your drivers license data, will anyone hold accountable women who routinely lie about the weight on the forms??? lol
