As I said before, none of this makes any sense, which is what annoys me. There will be several examples of this nonsense here.

You can put "you filthy" in front of anything. You filthy Swede. Is swede a bad word because of it? No, it's not. It makes no sense. Words like polack and jap are different from other offensive words because in these two, there is nothing inherently offensive about that. Compare with "white trash" which is made up of "trash" which of course negative. Jap is just a shortening of japanese, and polack is just an alternative (just as valid as pole btw) name for someone from poland. It is actually just the polish word for a male pole. There is nothing inherently offensive about these two words, and as I've said, it makes no sense.

What you say is nonsense. There were quotas for jews too. Jews were called jews back then and still are. Is jew "an offensive word? As I said, this makes no sense. It's terribly annoying, but americans tend to have very many nonsensical notions.

And germans (and pretty much everyone else too) did some bad stuff to jews to, yet jews are still called jews. This is a nonsensical double standard. I understand why that is so of course, given that this debate is run by emotion rather than reason. But as someone who refers things be discussed rationally, I am of course annoyed by this whole debate.

No. Nippon is the japanese word for Japan. Japan has never ever been called Nippon in English. Japan being called Japan has nothing at all to do with the USA.

It does not matter, because the word is the exact same word, both taken directly from polish and mean "polish male". The same words in different languages is another layer of ridiculous nonsense.. For example, negro is considered offensive, but the exact same word is what the spanish use for blacks. And since negro just means black, it all becomes even more ridiculous.

>>>MOD EDIT Rule 8 Removed<<< Both pole and polack are correct terminology for someone from poland. First of all, polack has been in the english language since the 16th century, and pole has only been htere since the 17th century. Secondly, there has not been any bloody commision set up to determine which is the correct word. All there has been is an irrational, nonsensical american debate wholly bereft of reason in which people just "feel" polack is a bad word.

Then give me your definition. A white person can't be racist to another white person. They are the same race.

Ditto with town hall.

Semantics? Your OP purposely put racism in the title.
Perhaps you should change the title.
It may be just as wrong, but they are used so little, or the context to the time they were used is soooo loong gone, not many even heard some of the words.
However, one stands out today as blatant hatred, to the point one just did a mass shooting in a church. You know the one, it was censored.

As the other poster said, make your case on why the n word should not be censored. Don't just whine other words aren't, prove your point.
To counter your point, the other words are not racist in most cases. They don't represent the time we live in, they were meant as demeaning decades ago.
So counter how your concern for 1 word is different and is not meant to hurt others. And some of the same race calling others of the same race a name to demean isn't racism. If you use the meaning of racism as defined.

Blacks shooting blacks isn't racism. And many times not out of pure hate.
But as a christian, one shouldn't hate anyone, that is a sin.

That's not what who said? Roof, rapped in a confederate flag to promote hate and racism?

And the American flag was flown high and proud over the rape, murder, torture, slavery and grnocide of the native Americans. But that's cool I guess.

And that's not what the person I was responding to in the thread said. He was referencing lynchings, dragging blacks behind cars and flogging them.

And I just want to check your sanity for a minute. What's worse? A killing of 9 people because of race. Or the deaths of 30+ people because of a culture of violence, drugs and an entitlement mentality?

Fancy. There were irish slaves. Later there was "irish trash", treated with the same amount of vitriol blacks were. They'd come here to take our jobs and rape our women etc was a pretty common line. They bring crime. Those damn papists will outbreed us and try to take over the country for the pope. ETC. But no one gives a (*)(*)(*)(*) if you make an irish guy beats his wife joke or the irish like to get (*)(*)(*)(*)faced joke, or say "hey you mick!". That help?

So you don't think that the word "****" incites any sort of violence etc? Shall I point you to neo-nazis etc and perhaps a history text or 50?

Same with *******, shall I point you to the violence just post 9/11? Hmm? Or will you admit that was a fairly ill considered statement?

I curse fluently in spanish, doesn't mean I speak the language. I'm a student of history, that means the ugly bits not just the parts that are all sunshine and puppy dogs.
Cow, if you want to insult me don't be a passive aggressive child about it. You want to call me a racist because I can identify racial slurs. Do so. Don't be scared. Its the internet. You can be as big a tough guy as you want.
Of course you'll also have to extend that to all people who can similarly identify those same slurs. Including those social justice warriors with studies degrees who probably know more slurs than I do.

Just because the word is censored on this board doesn't mean you can't use it elsewhere. Especially if you are bound and determined to show people what a cracker you are.

Paki isn't offensive then either. After all its PakiSTAN right? Just a quick shortening? Now go to a pakistani neighborhood, find the biggest mother's son you can, and say "Hey Paki! Where can I find some kebabs?". After you regain consciousness hopefully you'll understand that things like racial slurs don't HAVE to make logical sense because racial hatred isn't logical. Neither are slang terms.

Hey man I"M not offended by racial slurs. They're just words. Why the (*)(*)(*)(*) would you let your feathers be ruffled by someone intentionally trying to upset you? That's just silly. But it IS a fact that the word "****" is a term used to express derision and inferiority of an ethnicity and will get your ass kicked up around your ears if you drop it to someone of that ethnicity. Again, go find a large mean looking jewish man and call him a **** and see what happens. You feel free to explain to him that he's being silly while he's whipping your ass.

Again the slur is not Jew, the slur is ****. I understand that you're not getting the "polack" bit but go to a polish neighborhood in america, find a big mean looking dude and call him a polack and see what happens. Since redundency is good: It doesn't have to make logical sense, its an EMOTIONAL CONCEPT. People get mad for all sorts of silly reasons. I hadn't realized you were the arbiter.

Ah yes so the name the japanese gave their own nation totally isn't the actual name of japan, something we only call japan because filthy gaijin (hey yet another term that should be blocked out according to forum rules) like you and I (to be clear: WESTERN WHITE MEN. I"M TALKING ABOUT WESTERN WHITE MEN. WHITE. MEN. WESTERN. IS THAT CLEAR ENOUGH? ) felt the need to call it something the locals did not. If you don't think its a slur, I dare you nay I double dog dare you go to a kendo dojo in japan and call the sensei a nip.

No, negro in spanish MEANS the COLOR BLACK. It would be like me saying "Blacks". Whereas in english it has the connotation of racism from slavery because we have a word for the color black: black. See how that works? Different languages. If the rest of you folk would cave to inevitability and simply forsake your native tongues for english we wouldn't have this problem that annoys you so.

If the debate annoys you so, why do you feel the need to participate in its? Are you a masochist?

My God, paki is offensive now too? This is just ridiculous. Next, I'm sure brit is offensive. It seems any kind of handy shortening is offensive. Paki is another of these words which are wholly ridiculous to consider offensive. "pakistan" consists of two words. pak, which means pure, and stan which means land. Pakistan means pakiland! They are pakis and their country is pakistan. Just like irish are irish and their country is Ireland. You don't call them irelandish.

Oh yes I know this don't have to make any logical sense. That's why I'm so annoyed by it!

The fundamental difference is that **** actually is an insult, while paki, jap and polack are just shortenings. And as I've said, if we were to follow the logic you give gor why we shouldn't use jap and polack, we should be using jew either. But here we are, because it's a wholly irrational debate.

Not in english it isn't!

Are you saying negro in english means anything other than blacks? Also, what did the spanish call their black slaves? Yeah that's right, try again.

Have you missed the point of polical forums? Seems so. The point is to tell everyone why they are wrong in annoying debates. duh.

let me give you a little advise the one making the offence doesn't get to be the one that make the decision what is offensive the one that is offended does
so unless you have walked up to every Asian or at least the majority and asked them is being called a Jap offensive you have no dam place to make that determination that Jap isn't an offensive word
or to make it even easier for you. you can look up the word Jap in the dictionary and see if they describe it as offensive
here I will do it for you

Jap
(jăp)
n. Offensive Slang
Used as a disparaging term for a person of Japanese birth or ancestry.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Jap

now I want you to take the time and educate your self on the other words you deem not offensive
because like I mentioned before racism stems from ignorance

There is not and never has been a right not to be offended. People can get offended by almost everything, and that is wholly incompatible with freedom of speech. I'd rather have the right to free speech than the right not to be offended. They can not co-exist.

OR perhaps white folks don't really care if you call them a silly name, specifically white males. That's why there is nothing you can call a white male he really cares that much about. Women? Sure, call one a c*n~ and see the reaction you get. Every other group has a name/word that can be used as a weapon. White males have a tendency to adopt the name and carry it proudly.

well no (*)(*)(*)(*). A dictionary tells you the colloquial definition of a word. I already knew that jap was considered offensive. I am just saying it is nonsense. No, I need not educate myself on this. I know tons more than you think you do. Pretentious high horsery does not end well against me, let me assure you.

NO, not cool. And no one is doing it today. But with the racist flag, they are still doing it. Just happened. Honoring a racist symbol is not what Jesus would do.

Who is he?
Again, no clue what you're talking about.
Care to stay on topic?

Like I said man if you don't think paki is a slur, go call a burly looking pakistani a paki and inform him how silly he's being while he kicks your ass.

Again you're taking it out of context. Of course its just a shortening until you add the context in which the term has historically been used.
That's how ALL insults get their meaning. Take (*)(*)(*) the slur for gays which means a piece of wood used to light fires for instance. Or (*)(*)(*)(*) fornication unlawful carnal knowledge.

I'll use the name the locals use for their own (*)(*)(*)(*)ing country dude. I wouldn't call mexico hispanicland. I wouldn't call sweden land of too much taxation and welfare for ISIS fighters.

Negro in english refers to the race. Whereas in spanish it refers to the literal color black.

MOD EDIT - Rule 3

Don't really see none of that happening today. So it went away.
Just the other day, 9 blacks were shot because they still want to rape our women and take over our country. So that hasn't disappeared into the annuls of history. It is live and well to this very moment.

I never said that. I'm arguing that it ought not to be considered as such.

Why add this barely concealed aggressive internet tough guy crap? It is almost as if you want to look ridiculous.

Yes I am, because I'm making the point that they are not inherently offensive. There is a big difference between "stupid paki" and just "paki".

of course you can make the decision what is offensive according to you. You cannot make it for others though. I am not denying some people might be offended by paki or polack. I'm just saying them being so makes little to no sense since there is nothing at all inherently offensive about them.

I don't know, perhaps to some. But most won't know what you're talking about. I'm not sure what you're referring to here as you lumped the whole response into one emotional unreadable rant.

Which statement are you referring to, I made a few. Is ******* referring to a nation of people? If so, then that would be racist. Still not getting what you're so emotional about?

I don't even think I implied racism anywhere. Saying you have knowledge of all the nasty derogatory flamebaiting names seemingly at will was curiousity to me.

The south gives the impression of being racist, especially honoring a flag meant to fight for slavery.
