the question you have failed to observe is 'why are family members not allowed to marry each other?' (not a quote but basically the same question you keep dodging) the reason; is them children (upon procreation) maybe deformed ie.... they cannot marry because of 'what'?
Are you are saying that marriage should require to have children before marriage? Where did you get that notion about special requirements in order to get married? Are we allow live only those that proves success in life? Are not that stupid to require people to procreate before marriage in order to get married?
Marriage laws in the USA are purely religious and not equal. Some day I hope we will get the country out of the marriage buisness becuase it does not belong there. Anyone should be able to enter into a contract with another person with the same benefits available. That does not mean that homosexuals can get married in the Church. Their unions have no validity in the eyes of the faith and its believers. But that is between the homosexual couple and the Lord. The Church has no obligation to conduct the ceremony so it should not get involved.
When I went to the court house for my marriage license they did not ask me and my future wife if we would have kids. My minister at the time (I was Lutheran) did ask that and many more questions. The state did not care. The Church did. Very important distinction.
but which is the man and which is the women (on the marriage license) ie... which is the bride and the groom?
I just have demonstrated the strawman you are deserting to. It is highest idiocy to allow people to get married only if they have already procreated.
How is that relavent on who cared about us having children? But for the record it did not say Men sign under groom and women sign under bride. In fact my best man signed on my wifes spot and we had to get a new license. We joked that for a time I was married to my best friend.
Your very LIFE, naturally. that is a funny question, when what you quoted is on bride and groom. i know; a man dont fit in the 'wife' spot! I married my best friend. Nothing funny about it!
Um..... no. Marriage is a legal contract between adults. I do not see it homosexual marriage is any more a contradiction than heterosexual marriage.
There is no such definition. Marriage has never been defined as a contract between adults. You have made it up.
I tend to exclude religious definitions of legal contracts from my arguments because they are irrelevant to the world of which we live in.
