The shoot wasn't justified on many levels. First off, the dispatcher who willfully(or ignorantly, I don't care at this point) gave incomplete information and thus didn't give the cops the full information necessary. Then the cops made no attempt whatsoever to apprehend the suspect. No, just shoot first and we'll ask questions later. Based on the fact that they didn't even TRY to apprehend Tamir Rice is enough for a manslaughter charge. How the hell the GJ botched that one, I'll never know.

And I have special bonus points in hell for the cowards who called the police instead of approaching the 12 year old kid with a bb gun and telling him not to do what he was doing. So much for adult authority :D.

A kid died ultimately because there wasn't a single adult IMO in that situation. An irresponsible death all around.

What do you think, we can't see? He did NOT have his hands up when he was shot. He did have them up a few seconds earlier, but he is clearly reaching for something; he should have kept his hands up. And while he did not charge, he did almost run over a cop. The guy made the wrong decision to reach, and unlike Tamir Rice, he was known to the cops, and he spent the previous 10 minutes showing a reckless disregard for human life.

yes, even if he was unarmed and not planning to attack, it was legally justified (as long as the cop was scared for his life) just like shooting the kid with a toy gun was legally justified even though we know now it was just a toy gun

was the cop scared for his life, if the cop was scared, regardless if the fear was valid or not, then it's a justified shoot

as I was saying, even if it's a kid with a toy gun, if the cop is scared, it's a justified shoot... even if after the fact we find out what the cop was scared of could not of hurt him

now, your confusing what I am saying, it was a justified shoot, that does not mean it was not a wrongful death and the city should be held liable as such

as for the people that called the cops deserving a place in hell, depending on the area, if there was much gun\gang violence in the area, I admit, I might call 911 rather then get involved too

what was a adult going to do exactly, take the gun from the kid.... the adult could get in trouble for doing such, calling the authorities was the right thing to do

This smells fishy. Why would a man exit a vehicle with his hands up (a universal sign of surrender), move out into the open, surrounded by men pointing guns at him and only then reach for a weapon?

More reason that ALL law enforcement officers should wear body cameras and mics at all times while on duty. The only people who seem to be opposed to that are law enforcement officers. Why is that?

From the long distance video with no audio, there is really no way to tell what actually transpired. People claiming to know one way or the other are being dishonest and are letting their biases determine what they saw. And that's pretty effed up when we're talking about a human being losing their life.

BS. Cops don't get to kill people simply because they're scared. Get a grip.

The cop that killed the kid with a toy gun was considered a justified shoot because it was a cop that killed the kid. If you had done the same thing, they would have put you under the jail.

Simply being "scared" isn't a logical reason to kill someone. I've encountered hundreds of kids with toy guns and I never felt the need to shoot any of them. No reasonable person would.

Because the man wanted to die rather than go to jail. he made that very clear in interviews well before this happened.

Is that your final guess? Because you know that you're just guessing, right? Or are you operating under the misguided notion that you have perfect information?

If I see a 12 year old waving a gun at me, I'll take my chances. i'm the adult, I assume moral and ethical responsibility. What "kind" of trouble would an adult get into for saving lives? None at all. Stop being wussies Liberals.

what are you talking about, would you knowingly shoot a child with a toy gun

am am saying it's only a justified shoot because the officer was scared for his life.... the fact that it was a toy gun and nothing really to fear in reality has nothing to do with it being a justified shoot

    "Stop being wussies Liberals. "

I could call you names back.... but why bother....

    - - - Updated - - -

your right, we were talking about cops killing people, not you or I doing it..... that is why the person called 911 and let the cops handle it

It's true though. Back when I was a kid, adults would throw their weight around(sometimes physically, sometimes not.) And I wasn't even a threat to them! I wasn't even ruckus either. It came with the self-presumptive arrogance of being "an adult". An arrogance that I myself carry, I try not as much but I understand the mental maturity that comes with being an adult.

If I had been there that day, I would have confronted that child and lives would have been saved. Because I believe in the power adults wield, and our responsibility to use that power correctly. Not cower away and hope for someone else(authority or not) to solve the problem. In domestic affairs, YOU are the authority lol.

Our local PD officers have been wearing body cams for a couple years … No big deal …

The most vocal opposition, ironically, mostly comes from civilians, who worry about violation of their privacy when the cops respond to a domestic call (which is most calls) … Who gets to see the tapes, how long are they kept, etc. ...

"Take it from me, babe … You can't have it both ways … "
-- "Jane," to "Jonas," in "Leap of Faith"

But in the case of the justified shooting of "Tarp Man," he is the one who went from "hands up" to "reaching" …
It IS on tape … Watch it …

The other perp-thugs all had their hands WAY up and kept them there as they emerged from the "militia"-mobile, including another male in a cowboy how who is seen dropping his gun in the snow ...

But here's an idea … How about this … ???

Cops should be required to provide body cams and microphones to the SUSPECTS before they are touched or arrested or detained …
That way, the tapes would record everything the COPS do and say …

"Excuse me, sir … ??? Before you step out of the vehicle with your hands up and surrender your weapons to me (if any) I am required to require that you put on this body cam and film everything I say and do in the conduct of this encounter … Is that okay with you … ??? If not, please sign this release form indicating that you refused to wear the body cam … Thank you …"

I get the impression reading isn't your thing.

No, my assertion is that you can get yourself arrested for an armed seizure of Federal property. I also asserted that if you have a criminal conviction whose terms restrict the possession or ownership of firearms then you have committed a crime. Not rocket surgery really.

Everyone in those vehicles was a suspected criminal who had just left the site of an ongoing crime. The authorities had every right to attempt their arrest.

I haven't seen those videos and I didn't comment on them. This guy ran from a police stop (another crime); tried to run a roadblock; almost hit an LEO; exited the vehicle & ran (what is the usual police instruction in these situations? I'm betting 'get out & run' isn't it); then, after putting his hands up he reached for his waist or jacket...twice. Justified shoot. 100% avoidable by the victim.

so your saying you would of known this wasn't a real gun? and would of handled it differently then the cops did? that the cops should not of been scared for their lives?

Unless you read all of a persons posts from post #1 until today, you should be careful about making such wild assumptions. I have posted extensively on abuses by cops, such as:

Aiyana Jones, a 7 year old sleeping on the sofa in the living room when Detroit cops in a 2010 midnight no-knock raid burst in and "accidentally" shot her in the head, killing her. First the cops blamed the Grandmother saying she grabbed the cop, when the cops realized that would never fly they dropped it and claimed it was an accidental discharge. No cop paid any price for that murder.

The 2014 murder of John Crawford. Crawford, a black man, was in Walmart holding an air rifle (which he was going to buy), when Ronald Ritchie called 911 and lied about Crawford threatening people with a "rifle". Cops snuck in, found Crawford on his cell phone, and immediately murdered him. It was all on Walmart security video. The state prosecutor decided Crawford broke no law and was totally innocent - no cop ever paid a price for the murder, Ronald Ritchie never was held accountable.

And the early 2014 murder of James Boyd, a homeless man who was sleeping on state property outside of Albuquerque. Watch the video of that murder. In this case, cops might be held accountable, partly because Boyd was the final straw for the people of Albuquerque who marched in the streets after seeing the APD kill many innocent people (the residents refer to the APD as "another person dead").

I've also posted quite a bit about the murder of Eric Garner, but you should know about that case already.

And then there is the case of Georgia cops bursting into a house in which the Phonesavanh family was staying, the cops cracked open the bedroom door and threw a flash bang grenade into the room. The grenade landed in a 19 month old baby's crib, severely injuring the baby. The cops beat the father, causing serious injury to him. No cops paid a price. The cops were sued, and blamed the parents for negligence in letting their baby get injured. Oh, and to top it off - wrong address.

Two lessons for you: 1 - don't make wild assumptions; 2 - cops are not your friend.

No, whether it was real or not, the adults who were there should confront the 12 year old and tell him to put down the gun. Not act like scared wussies. And as for the police, they should attempted SOME kind of apprehension. You're an adult, you have mental and moral responsibilities to the child. Their cowardice inadvertently killed a kid.

2016 America is sad from this standpoint alone. Not the same country we grew up in, let alone our parents. For the worst, not for the better.

I have family to worry about, I am not risking my life to tell someone that looks like a gangster with a gun to stop playing with it

how about the parents... they could of told the child this when they gave the child this fake gun

I read just fine. You also asserted this but left it out of your above comment:
"These guys have been parading around with guns or posting images of themselves with guns on the net for some time no. Either or both of those are enough to pull the vehicles over"

Now since you insulted me how about you just (*)(*)(*)(*) off.

Therein lies the problem, the police in this country are constantly portrayed as these shrinking violets who are running scared 24/7 and the hoi polloi eat it up. They're coddled like precious newborns, indeed they insist on being treated so, revered because they "protect the innocent" and, therefore, the most important thing is that they go home at night to see their kids...which is all fine and good until they and people like you are willing to sacrifice other people's children for the sake of grown-ass men who made a conscious employment decision. No. Just, no. It is not okay to kill innocent children simply because someone claims to be scared, even if that someone has a shiny two-bit badge.
