Any banks that complied should face a loss of customers. Totally inappropriate and dangerous.

 

I guess "fascism" started with GWB when we passed the Patriot Act 1, Patriot Act II, and even included in the discretionary spending bill that Mike Johnson agreed to. This is data mining, and it has been legal since the first Patriot Act was introduced.

So, the FBI used these terms, or BOLOs, to see if there was any financial and criminal culpability going on. Not all people who had "MEGA" or "Trump" transactions would be liable or suspected of something criminally, but this is how intelligence operates in the financial world. So, there is probably some legitimacy here. On the other hand, with data mining, it is also its own worse enemy. With so much information and data coming into the system, it takes time to sort things out and that means things could be missed from a legal investigative standpoint. Thus, a person who sent a donation electronically to the Trump campaign will be the most common, and thus, that person would have nothing to hide or be concerned because no crime was committed. However, if a person who was donating to a group that wanted to instill another person as dictator for life and will be using Trump as the code word for that operation, then that should get the FBI's attention, should it not? Or do you thnk the FBI should not do something or investigate at all by a group that wants to violently overthrow the government while using a code word to do so.

 

I think you need to read the Patriot Act when it was first passed. This has been going on since 2002 and has been authorized by Congress each time we had to reauthorize the Patriot Act or the NDAA. Using BOLO words is very common on trying to get the list of transactions that may have criminal culpabilty. And no, not all MEGA supporters or voters fall into that category when donating to the Trump campaign. But that is what data mining does. It casts a large net, and then they need to sift out what is in that large net to find what they are looking for.

 

The DOJ. The FBI doesn't enforce anything.

The FBI is purely investigative. It doesn't respond to crimes in progress the way police officers do.

That’s not what trump or trump nation wants. Trump has made it abundantly clear that he intends to use the FBI as a secret police to do exactly what you claim the FBI should never do.

Right. FBI would never be involved in actually arresting child pornographers or drug traffickers. All they do is investigate.
They may not have beat cops or patrol the highways. But yes, it is law enforcement. Police.

Yes the FBI is a federal police force. Most states acknowledge them as police and grant them that status. Certainly in the broad meaning. Certainly federal law enforcement.
