In theory, yes, but not in current practice. I don't recall the defunded resources actually being allocated to 'appropriate agencies' very often (nor did I believe for even a second that it would be). Sending unarmed social workers to handle violent situations is not what I would call 'appropriate.' In fact, many of the places that 'defunded the police' are now refunding the police after public outrage at the resultant surges in crime.

FTR I'm perfectly OK with totally defunding all the police everywhere. But I think most other people in society would not enjoy everyone taking the law into their own hands... that would be a good world for a few of us, and a terrible world for most of us.

But that is not the world that would result from getting rid of the FBI. Its not the feds that prevent people from driving 100 miles an hour in school zone or having a rock concert outside your bedroom window at 3am on a Tuesday or walking into your house and demanding that its their house now.

And yet, there is no shortage of video of your beloved fuhrer, calling for weaponizing the FBI against his personal political enemies, establishing concentration camps, arresting and trying political rivals.

So, get angry all you want. But you can’t deny that you’re making accusations about Biden allegedly doing things that your beloved fuhrer has announced that he fully intends to do all of theses things and more.

The hypocracy is as blinding as your outrage is dishonest and self serving.

This is a real ethical dilemma, and interestingly the right is on both sides of the government depending on convenience or who is being targeted.
The right DEMANDED that Apple not only hack the phone of the San Bernardino shooter, but when the government was told that Apple did not have the codes, the government demanded that Apple develop the software to hack the phone.
The right, like one man, stood up and cheered on the government and asked that Apple be punished.
Years later when a gun safe making company helped the feds by unlocking a safe, the right called for a boycott of the company and tried to run them out of business. And of course, we all remember all the FOX talking heads telling us when they supported the patriot act that if "you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear".

Clearly the right's outrage is purely selective.
