Flat Earthers are only a hairline removed from Creationists.

 

Lets say for the sake of argument that the earth is flat.

What does that change? Which of the worlds problems are solved by this revelation?

They'd be worse. Even less trust would be placed on scientific studies/findings/research.

Sure, & for most things that directly touch my life, I agree. But what about medicine?

If one science is held to low regard, when does it stop?

I dont trust our medical system at all. Prolly half the research I do is medical related. Doctors still prescribe statons to people even though it literally dissolves the cholesterol that the brain is made of (it eats holes in ur brain!) and is the leading suspected cause of alzheimers/dimentia.

Well, for one thing, I'd have to be a hell of a lot more careful about where I go sailing.

 

I understand that, & again, I personally try to get as much information, from as many sources as possible regarding anything I or my family might face.

My point being, we'd see even fewer researchers, doctors etc., if the Earth was flat, & it was shown that this fact had been hidden from the entire globe, since forever.

Does not matter. A parable is not to be taken literally. The bible uses literary instruments, allegory, analogy, metaphors, and if you read it as literal, it in some parts becomes the utterances of village idiots. So it requires intelligence and context and even a knowledge of the eras in which it speaks about. So, if the bible is trying to tell us as truth that life is 6000 years old, or that the earth is flat, because it literally says that, it is a lie not truth. In order not be be a lie, requires a non literal interpretation which non fundamentalist theologians will attest to. And they have known this and said this for a very long time.

You should stop judging or lest you be judged. How unchristian like of you! Try reading what christ taught. You might learn something. I can spot a genuine christian, quite easily. Don't be so dense. The bible is a mixture of literary instruments used to communicate. Anyone who is educated knows this. Theologians know this. But for some reason you don't?
