So in the information contained there on the screenshot, did they mistakenly use the word trillion when they should have used the word billion?

Bush prepared a budget. The democrat house would not go along with it.
Even if what you say was true, that does not change the fact that the budget was prepared and signed by democrats and nearly 3/4 of the spending took place under Obama.

I have no idea how they came up with that number. 2017 budget was 3.3 trillion.

Great. We Democrat has no problem spending money. We don’t scream about deficit and debt every other day. It is republican talk about how important it is to lower debt and deficit when Democrats are in WH but when GOP president are in WH, same GOP congress spend money like drunken sailor.

You may want to think that through. You are incorrect. The deficit is not additive in multiple years. The DEBT is, but the deficit is typically reported annually (although both monthly and quarterly reports can be had).

The deficit is the difference between revenue and expenditures for the fiscal year. The debt consists of the additive deficit spending over the years.

    SMH.

Budgets originate in the house of representatives. It is fairly common to have a republican president and a democrat congress.

I have said it before. We need to cut down on our spending whoever controls congress and whoever is president.

Of course not! It's also not subtractive, like the poster thought

The poster didn’t claim it was subtractive. But you claimed it was additive.

You really need to learn more about this subject. This is the second time I’ve had to remind you the debt and deficit are not the same thing.

    What Is the Federal Debt?
The debt is the total amount of money the U.S. government owes. It represents the accumulation of past deficits, minus surpluses.

The deficit is the annual difference between government spending and government revenue.

BJ BILL HAD 4 BUDGET SURPLUSES, 3 AFTER VETOING THE GOP'S $792+ BILLION TAX CUT

The national debt in 1960 was 380 billion.
The national debt now is over 31.4 trillion.

Did all that extra debt improve roads? Did it improve education? Did it reduce crime? Did it make ANTHING better?

It constantly amazes me that we spend an order of magnitude more to obtain results that are an order of magnitude WORSE than what my father had at America's peak.

Gutting revenues as you blow up spending (Ronnie, Dubya and Donnie) will create a lot of debt

Its regular math. Trump left behind biggest deficits in history of the nation, and now it has been reduced to less than half. Still too much? Yes, but at least the direction is right.

Deficits when Obama took office = -1.4 Trillion. When he left office it was -584.7. The OP didn't make it up. You COULD have looked it up from, but you chose to run with a screen shot from someones cell phone.

Either way, deficits are still too high, and CBO forecast is not showing a drastic reduction, so we should hope for increase in revenue, since spending won't be cut much. The uncollected $600B per year would have made a huge difference, but it seems they do not want to collect it.

CBO SAID $1.2 TRILLION DEFICIT JAN 07, 2009. WHO WAS PREZ?

Now show me the LAWS Obama passed that caused the deficits please? Almost everything was UNFUNDED TAX CUTS, UNFUNDED WARS, UNFUNDED MEDICARE EXPANSION BY THE GOP THAT COST $119 BILLION THIS YEAR AND RESULTS OF "HANDS OFF REGULATORS" THAT ALLOWED THE US (AND WORLDS) ECONOMY TO CRASH!

And only because his Republican Congress in the last 6 years slowed down his spending binge.

Clinton? Seams to me the was no surplus until Newt took charge and the contract with America was made. Clinton got a surplus on budget that he did not want and threatened to veto. Also the president does not make and set the budget congress does that. Your Democrat President's were riding on being out of power in congress.
