I believe hysterectomies are one of the most over-practiced unnecessary surgeries performed, quite probably THE most. However, if progesterone is not working, and she is late stage menopause anyway, it seems the appropriate solution.

I am sorry about your friends daughter. At her age it should be a last resort... but they are just money mills. The procedure itself is about 5k. The rest is just gravy and malpractice insurance. That is why it is rarely optioned for the poor and uninsured. It is only a measure of last resort for them.

Personally, I doubt the whole story. I doubt his personal history, and think he made up this story. It just doesn't ring true.

Well, the .70 caliber bit, the petroleum cooker, and a few other details just don't ring true.

I believe most people would be attracted to a prevailing, market based wage where they might also command a bonus.

I would agree with you if our war in Vietnam and our other wars on abstractions were also on that same, volunteer basis; instead of resorting to the coercive use of force of the State to implement public policy decisions which have less market based impetus than actually solving poverty and increasing the circulation of money in our money-based, mixed-market, political-economy.

Employment relationships in the US are based on the concept and legal doctrine of employment at will. You are welcome to research it yourself.

In my opinion, you could have stayed in college for as long as you wanted, and eventually been hired to teach.

True, but millions of women have had a hysterectomy and whistled right thru it - have never, ever heard of such a horribly botched hysterectomy that Shawna went thru and it was b/c of the new technology - robot surgery. Remind me to never have one, if I ever need a hysterectomy or whatever other surgery they use the robot on....:they should take the robot and throw it in the trash can ...twisted:

I don't know if she's on any kind of public assistance. Do know she had a baby about a yr ago and no dad around, so probably. I never ask those questions - oh, it's the neighbor's granddaughter & she lives w/her parents. There is a big diff b/t the medical care of those on welfare and those who are employed & have their own insurance.

She'd need her iron levels checked as the blood loss means she will have dangerously low iron levels. Also, bleeding excessively should mean she is too weak to even sit up, and she should be fainting a lot.

I wasn't as bad as what the OP is describing but I used to faint a couple times each month. You get so tired you can't do anything but lie there. Its too much effort to even lift a finger.

Sly's sister needs a doctor. Exploratory surgery at the very least to find the cause of that bleeding. It could be something as simple as a hormone imbalance.

Her blood is not clotting. What happens when she has a papercut? Does it bleed and bleed? If so, is she on any drugs that thin the blood?

This is complete conjecture. For all of her complaining, she did not say that anyone was giving her trouble to pay for her surgery.

what does the one have to do with the other?

not everyone is so easily led as you are...not everyone is so blinded by envy.

welfare has nothing to do with how much money Bill Gates spends.

I am really tired of the idiocy and greed of the Left.

huh..well, when I was in MY twenties I thought like YOU!

the difference is, I LIVED it...I didn't show up to do my good deed a couple of times then sashay back to my middle income home to brag to my friends about how I helped out the 'poor downtrod'. I was the kid living in roach infested government housing, I was the one eating stale, tasteless government cheese, I was the one going to government run health clinics; I know what being on welfare is like.

then as I matured, I realized it is people like you that use poor people as props and fools that KEEP poor people poor by coddling them or telling them they can't do better with their lifes, encouraging them to view themselves as 'hapless victims' instead of valuable human beings with strengths and the ability to better themselves.

Where do you get this stuff from? Nothing was said about the woman needing a hysterectomy when she hasn't even gotten to the dr yet to find out the reason for the excessive bleeding....

This country takes care of it's poor - including the illegals who sneak across the border. Or have you conveniently forgotten HUD housing, food stamps, energy assistance, Salvation Army that feeds the poor 24/7, churches & other charities and free medical care?

Another one .... Tell me, what does some CEO have to do w/someone who's to lazy to get off their dead ass and on to their dying feet and get some self respect, get motivated, get an education, get a job and take care of themselves? It's called taking responsibility for your own life......

Yup, all that. Many women can't donate blood every 56 days like men do b/c they're more prone to iron deficiency........

I was wrong about my daughter's blood loss. I tho't she lost 40% overnite, but it was over a couple of days b/f they could stop it and then she was in the hospital...
