Why is the end game here? Those trying to convince us that there is systemic racism and violence in our police? Trying to bring the country down working for Russia? :) Still bitter over that cold war thing eh?

The DOJ estimates that around 25 to 30 dogs are killed by cops every day, with some numbers
as high as 10,000 per year. The totals could, in fact, be higher, since most police agencies do
not formally track officer-involved shootings involving animals

Man goes to police station to turn himself in over DUI warrant. Two days later police

Why is the Left so surprised?
Christians have been preaching the flawed and sinful nature of humanity for centuries.

Do some people just have trouble understanding how officials in government could ever be bad, or why their big benevolent all-powerful government is unable to weed out all the bad apples?

Yeah, more protests and public awareness will solve the problem... (sarcasm)

Or you could just go on pointlessly hating police, as an entire class of people...

And it makes you wonder how many turned a blind eye - and for how long. THAT is my problem with policing. Not the few who are bad apples, but a system that tolerates and protects them.

With regard to why police protect their own, part of the problem is all the unfairness of the laws and problems in the system. Police know this better than anyone. With all the unfairness, it's almost understandable why police would cover up at least the more minor borderline incidents to protect their own. I almost don't blame them.

People blindly and naively assume the justice system is perfect, but in reality there are many inherent trade-offs. You want more of one thing, often something else has to be sacrificed. And so we see inherent trade-offs between guaranteeing rights of ordinary people versus guaranteeing rights of those working in the front lines of law enforcement.

It's a stupid simple mind that is unable to see this.

Did you read the whole story? The arrest rate for police officers is 1.7 per 100,000 for cops and the normal arrest rate is 3888 per 100,000. So the whole premise of your thread is destroyed by a story you produced. Good job.

And at least one and likely more wrongful convictions. How many cops are there in the country? Millions you 5000 bad ones Many whom were fired before they ever offended hence the term ex cop. This isn't a pattern, it's a one off. I suspect there is a higher percentage of criminals in any other professions of a similar size.

Next time someone breaks into your house call a social worker.

Oh the left is not surprises. Why is the right so protective of dirty cops? That's the surprise of it though.
And your idea of "bad apples", and weed them out... ignores that there is hard statistics that it's racism is widespread and all present.

You mean... the right wingers had no problem with racist profiling.
But when the tables are turned.... it's nag nag nag... protecting a racist statues quo.

So, if there are a few bad apples we shouldn't weed them out, but instead get rid of them all? Let's examine that logic (or more specifically, lack thereof) more closely. Some white people commit crimes, so instead of weeding out the criminals, we should just get rid of them all. Some black people commit crimes, so instead of weeding out the criminals, we should just get rid of them all... Hmm. Or, we could just focus on weeding out the bad apples.

This thread is not about race, it's about police brutality/corruption, so you can stop the baiting now. Go play your racist math game elsewhere. See, we can use that term too!

I'm waiting on the thread about all the bad stuff criminals have done over the years. I'm guessing it will somewhat eclipse what bad cops have done. We need to get rid of criminals and bad cops. Right now, seems criminals are getting a pass, and even encouraged.

There are over 800,000 officers in the US.

It took 6 years for this much to happen? MINUSCULE PERCENTAGE.

    Facts prove you wrong....always.

    Nope, not at all.

Minuscule percentage. You can do this with any profession.

November is right around the corner though so I know you won't let facts get in the way of your narrative.

That should be the end of kyklos posting in this thread. The only question is will the need to push the agenda bring them back or will being proven wrong keep them away....time will tell.

It's an old story because DE ANGELO GOT AWAY WITH IT FOR 45 YEARS!

Janelle Cruz, 18 yrs., was hit in the face with a pipe wrench by De Angelo scattering teeth all over the bedroom where she was raped.

Yes, that is why I supplied the entire article by the link!

1.7 per 100,000 is a pretty good numerical ratio. Janelle Cruz will be glad to know that statistic.

In police academy, and in civil society a common tactic is collective punishment--one person screws up, the entire class crawls on their bellies in uniform across the football field.

I do not get where you are going you see a pattern that police are less likely to commit crimes than the general population so we should do what?

Yes, that is why we shouldn't police the police, but award absolute immunity to them instead. Speaking of immunity! I have bunch of new stories, but one has to begin somewhere that the investigations are complete....Oh! yeah....a got a good one from San Francisco! Thanks for reminding me.

The California police investigated the Golden State Killer very thoroughly except in one area....the military. De Angelo was a Vietnam veteran. While researching the Golden State Killer I read a description of a house the the killer have burglarized and realized it was my house and address it was describing. The burglary happened many decades before I lived there, but two persons in my neighborhood were raped by De Angelo during that same time. It's a very, very small world.

On this topic I recommend the book "Hunting A Psychopath: The East Area Rapist/Original Night Stalker Investigation" (2016) by the very hard working detective Richard Shelby. Shelby predicted that the Golden State Killer (EAR and Original Stalker were names also used for De Angelo) would be found through a relative somehow.
