So, again I have to point out that you didn't really have to click on the link to read/participate in the thread if you don't want to think about it. There are tons of threads on this site that I look at and say "Nope, I'm not going to even bother" and I move along. If you don't want to think about it...you do have the option to do likewise. No one is forcing you to become involved.

Yes, you may feel that way. I understand as there are things out there that I wish I could avoid dealing with. Things that are upsetting to me and when I come across them I can't help but to think about them.

But if they're in a discussion forum thread, I don't open it. If it's a Facebook post, I'll click on the option to hide posts like that. If it's something I don't want to get involved with, I leave it alone.

So when I see you in a thread that is about something that you dislike...to the point of saying "and if I could have some kind of lobotomy to erase the knowledge and the images it involuntarily conjures up, I'd go for it without delay. "...it does rather make me wonder why in the heck did you even click on the link in the first place if this is how you feel about it.

I mean it's one thing to enter a thread with the mentality of "This is how I feel and I want to defend my position". It's what I do, it's what Wan does, it's what Maquiscat does, it's what most of us do. It's why we're here. But for you to say that you really don't want to be here, that you don't want to think about this...it does make me wonder why you bothered.

I am reading it and I do understand what you are saying and what you are feeling. I'm just not understanding why you feel the need to come here and discuss if you feel that way.

Why? I'm not gay. Wasn't born that way nor am I likely to ever make that choice. I just choose not to stand in the way of homosexuals getting the same rights that the rest of us enjoy. No more, no less.

I have no problem with that either; in fact I'm on the record as frequently asserting I was fortunate enough that, against all the odds, I met and married the one and only woman on this planet for me, and so I'd wish the same for them in meeting their soul mates, irrespective of the gender side of it. Actually, if a heterosexual partnership isn't one which is 'made in heaven' I would readily argue that a same-gender joining is the better option. For example, I'm always more comfortable in the company of males than I am with females. But I'm digressing. As to my participation in these threads - it's a kind of quid pro quo, in that I'm forced to contemplate the subject of homosexuality so why shouldn't I respectfully express my strong disapproval of that aspect of their lifestyle? Do you think that those who don't enthuse about AS should just keep quiet about it? To be honest with you, if they didn't flaunt their lifestyle, and most of them do exactly that, I'd be more unprejudiced about it.

Except when the conservatives keep losing elections, like they did in '08 and about then. There was a massive swing left then, and a massive swing right now, and the way Trump is going, I expect to see a massive swing left again. Unless people get smart and start voting third party.

 

The swing right will continue to intensify I guarantee it. More Blacks and Hispanics voted for Trump than expected and that will continue to increase as they realize Democrats have done nothing for them . Most of them hate Queers and love guns too !!!!!
