People that don’t understand peer review, often referred to as pal review, think that a peer reviewed paper is about facts and not an opinion that would have to be tested by other scientists. Very few peer review papers stand the test of time. That is also called science.

 

You seem to be conflating "determine" and "cause." Solar radiation is by far the predominate cause of the earth's temperature, counterbalanced by infrared radiation leaving the earth, and tweaked by other attendant factors -- so-called green house gases being an important one. However, temperature is completely determined by the translation energy (whole molecular velocity) of particles be they gas, liquid, or solid.

A nit bit of science for you to ponder: when a CO2 molecule absorbs an infrared photon its temperature does not change even one tiny bit.

The Amazon rainforest is now emitting more carbon dioxide than it is able to absorb, scientists have confirmed for the first time.

The emissions amount to a billion tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, according to a study. The giant forest had previously been a carbon sink, absorbing the emissions driving the climate crisis, but is now causing its acceleration, researchers said.

Most of the emissions are caused by fires, many deliberately set to clear land for beef and soy production. But even without fires, hotter temperatures and droughts mean the south-eastern Amazon has become a source of CO2, rather than a sink.

 

I like the scientific process. It's great. You see a phenomenon, you create a hypothesis that can be repeatedly tested. If your tests match your hypothesis, you're doin' good. If they don't, something's wrong.

Climate "Science" doesn't follow this pattern.
If the predictions you make based on your theory are wrong, your theory is wrong or incomplete. Yet in Climate Science, wrong predictions don't really concern people too much. Sometimes, the data even gets manipulated to support the forgone conclusions.

 

I certainly don't include the modus operandi of conjecturing warmists that any deleterious anomaly of any kind anywhere on the planet is caused by global warming.

It's really tragic that the liberal media will take advantage of so many uncritically thinking people.

 

Because it's comparison to inexacts. Some version of humanity has been on the planet for something around 2 -2.5 million years. We've only had the ability to record information for about 8000 years, and that was often highly localized. We've only had accurate weather instruments for around 200 years. We truthfully don't even know what average weather is for man's entire time on the planet. Climate has been changing since the earth acquired an atmosphere. It has change often disastrously while man has been here.

Studies of mytochondrial DNA suggest that humanity got damn close to extension about 70 to 80k years ago. There have been according to Leakey et al forty odd version of humanity in the last 2 million years we would appear to be the last one left. All though we may carry a few of those ancients in our DNA.
The whole point of course is that extreme weather has been common place through out human history. The only difference between now and then is that we have better measurement tools.

Climate alarmist media waking up?

Germany’s climate alarmist media appears to be waking up a little, and thus are not totally buying the claims being made by German leaders that the devastating floods were due to climate change. It’s becoming increasingly clear the human catastrophe was the result of unimaginable government incompetence.

Though NTZ initially received a few complaints for blaming the loss of life on “criminal negligence” earlier, such complaints have stopped coming in as it is becoming clear as to why nearly 200 people lost their lives.

Catastrophe made possible by “inconceivable ignorance”

Today we are seeing unusually harsh criticism coming from a number of media outlets aimed at the German government’s ineptitude. For example, ‘Welt’ science editor Axel Bojanowski wrote a commentary that the flood catastrophe was made possible by “inconceivable ignorance”. . . .

 

Let no crisis go to waste! Blame it on Muh Climate Change!

 

So was the flooding in New Orleans. But the extreme weather events, which are coming in increasing frequency causing the damage, are due to climate change.

 

That’s a false statement. There is no increased frequency and there is more damage due to more building in disaster prone areas.
