Not sure if you fly much or not.

    Makes no odds. Just imagine.

You are getting on a plane from A to B.

Among the passengers are two men who look as if they may well be Muslims.

They are not drawing any special attention to themselves, nor behaving in an unusual manner.

You all go to board the plane.

Do you feel more nervous getting on the plane, now that you have spotted what you believe to be two Muslim businessmen?

Other than observing their odd way of dressing, I wouldn't pay then much mind, since I'm pretty sure most high jackers of planes try not to draw attention to themselves. To be honest I'd be more wary of Arab males dressed in typical clothing.

    Probably a fair comment, actually.

I have to confess: sometimes I hope some idiot tries something on a plane with me. I would absolutely be more aware of people of Arab descent on the plane with me.

What profile better fits a terrorist? My gramma?

Sure I said 'Muslim', but anyway....how would you be able to determine it?

If they are dressed in a Western manner, which many do, then they could just as easily not be Muslims at all.

And why would you pay them special attention?

If two Catholics were found to have commited an act of terror, once upon a time, are you then aware of all Catholics?

And? I am an extremely aware person, and size up everyone. If someone has the complexion of an Arab, or Persian, I'm sure I'll keep a closer eye.

    Don't ask stupid questions.

If it becomes a trend, then yes. Catholics, however, are much tougher to spot.

Your transparent attempt to deny the validity of profiling fails.

    True.

    So what then?

Maybe put a badge on the Catholics?

To ensure they could be identified?

Stupid thread is stupid, Jack. I'm not going to be drawn into your inanity.

And I have never said a single thing about suppressing any rights of any people, regardless their skin color. What I said was that there are times when I muse about what I would do if someone tried something stupid on a plane with me on it. I have a lot of indignation built up in me about unjust attacks on America, and I would absolutely take it out on such an imbecile.

It's rational to feel a little more anxious, but it's irrational to be very paranoid about it.

I'm really trying to give you a chance to improve it.

    Sadly, you're failing.

Never flown before, and to honest, I think I'd be more concerned about the actual takeoff than who waa sitting across to me. If I saw a couple of Muslim men on the plane, I'd probably say G'Day to them.

I'm not fearful of fellow passengers in general; I do size-up most people I see/notice on a flight. (Basic social/survival skills employed, as usual.)

If I see something out of the ordinary, I'm going to report it. But no, I don't just look for "Muslims" or other ethnicities per se.

I have flown to Malayasia on a few occasions. I have also flown domestically throughout Malaysia. I have even sat next to Muslim men on these flights. I have found the flights enjoyable and have been engaged in conversation with these people.

    Nothing to fear..

So you are ok with Arabs just not Muslims? Think hard before answering.

So, just because someone is a Arab, that automatically makes them a Muslim? Think hard before answering.

I'll answer your question but you need to answer mine first. I did ask first, so it is only right.

Are you cool with Arabs on the flight?
