In the short term, GOP primary candidates may benefit from staking out such extremist positions, but they are undoubtedly alienating female voters and making it even more difficult to ever win a national election.

As the party gets smaller and more conservative, GOP leaders’ anti-woman vitriol is getting worse and their stances on women’s health issues are getting more dangerous.

Unless they change course soon, the party will only continue to shrink, and the cycle will continue. Indeed, with their distorted view of “life,” Republicans may be trapped in a death spiral from which they cannot escape.

That Republican "distorted view of life," is only going to get more extreme. Just compare the tiny number of right wing loonies running in the 2008 presidential campaign to the increased number in the 2012 campaign. Contrast that with the insanity happening in the GOP freak show for the 2016 election cycle.

Since becoming the majority in both Congressional chambers, the only thing the Republicans and Teapublicans can agree on is their irrational need to oppose Obama on every issue. They introduce legislation that the majority of Americans do not want, and when the Teapublicans propose a bill, it is something the majority of Americans REALLY don't want.

The Republicans and their junior partners of the Tea Party cater only to the very rich, then pander to the lunatics on the extreme right using personal issues like abortion and same sex marriage, which are no one's business but those closest to the situation. Gays getting married and women receiving abortions touch the lives of those opposed to the issues about as much as which team won last year's World Series.

The goofy views and actions of the GOP/TP, both in government and in society in general, show how far out of touch the right wing has become with the views of the average American majority.

You know it KILLS ME to see what the GOP has turned into!!!

The GOP's own internal RNC Report states that the Republican Party must become more inclusive and drop Ultra-Right Wing Religious Groups and drop promoting to change Supreme Court Justices to mirror the Anti-Abortion Lobby.

The RNC's own internal report states that unless changes to the Republican Party's Platform are not made that the GOP has very little chance of winning back the Presidency anytime soon.

Nonsense. Remember the report is generated by rinos exactly how do you pan on winning anything by jettisoning 30% to forty percent of your base.

If Bristol Palin decided to get an abortion instead of keeping her baby, what would you be saying?

They have some gaffs every now and then. They oppose abortion on moral grounds.

I don't understand the "war on women" rhetoric. It's politically convenient, sure - but it seems to have a substantial truth deficit.

Disagree? Explain why. I am by no means unreceptive to argument on this issue.

We had the GOP accused of racism with Obama. This time we'll have chauvinism shoved down our throats. When the democrats have no substance to run on, just fling crap at the wall.

You have Republican candidates stating that women should not be allowed the freedom to govern their own reproductive tracts, that More Big Government should control them.

You have candidates saying women shouldn't be allowed an abortion even if the pregnancy was caused by rape. That is punishing women because they were raped (like Muslim extremists).

Now some may not perceive this as war on women because ingrained sexism and misogyny will never see it as anything but "normal".

Rape is ALSO about power and control over women.

    In what sense? Elaborate.

That's a moral difference, to say it constitutes a war on women is deceitful.

    Cool. Please stay on topic.

Good lord, What would it take to convince you?

If punishing women for life for being raped isn't enough ?!?!

Republicans actually locking up all women of "breeding age" in pens and barns to make sure they reproduce ?

Executing women for having an abortion? (It 's "murdering a baby" to them, remember)

Having all women monitored with chips so a buzzer goes off at "headquarters" if they get pregnant?

How about Republicans raising taxes to pay for all these forced babies ????

You have Democrat candidates stating that women should not be allowed to govern their own digestive tracts, that more big government should control their food choices.

You have Democrat candidates stating that women should not be allowed to govern their own auto-immune systems, that more big government should control the chemicals they put in their bodies, and their children's bodies.

You have Democrat candidates that want to take away school choice, insurance choice, energy choice, hell, even deodorant choice.

So isn't it a little big disingenuous to complain that Republicans are the opponents of choice?

They feel that abortion is not self-defense. I disagree, but to equate this position to a 'war on women' is absurd and partisan, in my view.

I had not heard of this policy - perhaps there is a war on women!

See above, I do not consider opposition to abortion to be contemptuous toward women.

I had not heard of this policy - perhaps there is a war on women!

    Wouldn't demonstrate contempt toward women.

I'm the most pro-choice motherf***er out there. I've made my "coathanger" position known to you in the past - that's about as pro-choice as it's conceivably possible to be.

I just don't see the GOP as having contempt toward women. They have a moral difference on abortion. It's not to punish women. This all seems like partisan hot air to me.

There are plenty of legitimate criticisms of the GOP - this is not one of them.

War on women, Social Security is going broke, global warming, the sky is falling. The OP is an opinion and lacks any facts. If you have an opinion you could help it by explaining how you came to your conclusion.

If any of those are laws they apply to everyone not just women.

And if you don't approve of Democrats doing this (Off Topic) then why do you approve of Republicans doing it ( with LAWS).??

You: "You have Democrat candidates stating that women should not be allowed to govern their own auto-immune systems""

I have no idea what you're referring to but Republicans want to force women to compromise their immune systems by forcing them to stay pregnant...even if RAPED.

Did ya see the little squiggly thing at the end of my first sentence above? It is a QUESTION mark which denotes a question. Care to read the post of mine you quoted slowly and maybe you'll see I asked a question ???????

I did NOT say those were policies, did I?

Fine, you don't believe punishing women for being raped is part of a war on women and agree with radical Muslims and Republicans that women should be punished for being raped, ""nothing personal, lady, but you know, at least I'm not contemptuous of you"....

You like the idea of using coat hangers for abortions but you AREN'T contemptuous of women? Yes, you are.

Women has special rights in U.S. they will vote for special right party (i.e. democrats) anyway.
But to organize white males in one voting block would be very beneficial for the country.

So the Democrats have a war on everyone? That's an odd party platform.

Are not women a part of everyone? Or is it the Democrat's intent to pit singled out groups against each other as part of this war against everyone?

You have no idea what I'm talking about, but you do have an opinion. Good thing you're not afraid to combat your ignorance of what I'm talking about by swinging that opinion around blindly in the hopes that you'll hit something.

The GOP hasn't won the female majority in a Presidential race since 1988. Republicans can't figure out why working women have so dramatically turned against them even as they continue to wage war against women voters.

The Republican Party's favorability rating has plummeted to its lowest since 1992 for a reason. They've become the party of empty rhetoric and increasingly small-minded and backwards ideas. I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Your great white hope is already alienating women as well as blacks and hispanics with his big mouth.
