The latest big thing for the anti-gun crowd is "Stabilizing Braces". When I first heard about this, I had no idea what a stabilizing brace was. In brief, it is an attachment which converts a pistol into short barrel rifle. "The stabilizing brace rule would require owners who wish to continue using a brace-equipped handgun to register it with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and pay the required tax for a short-barreled rifle." Law enforcement in several states say they will not enforce this latest federal law. Stone County, Arkansas sheriff says he will not enforce ATF gun stock rule | KARK I have never heard of one being used in a mass shooting, but the law is still being passed to prevent it.
I could care less what Wikipedia says. Anyone with a modicum of a grasp of the English language, understands that assault is a form of behavior.
Anyone with a modicum of a grasp of the English language, understands that the meaning of words changes.
That's always the excuse lefties use to apply words incorrectly so that they can control the language of others.
We joke, but the people pushing this clown world on us are deadly serious. They have a lot of money and a lot of power. They are not suddenly going to see the light and repent. This can only end one way.
Guns don't just go off without human input. They have no magical powers and they don't act on their own.
And no one believes that the gun went off on its own (except maybe you apparently?). Someone did something to make that gun go off.
As we see again and again the same old same old talking points in threads about guns, something else remains the same. The United States of America, compared to other modern democracies, has an inordinately high rate of gunshot deaths per unit of population*. Data from 2020** shows an average of one gunshot death every 12-13 minutes around the clock. Our present laws and their levels of enforcement, coupled with our existing social programs, still leave this level of deaths from gunshot: roughly 45,000 a year. Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . "assault" is a military tactic or maneuver. not a "behavior" like teaching a dog to roll over (a "behavior") for a treat. all mass shooters , esp school shooters , should be required to use automatic weapons in order to decrease accuracy and waste ammunition. the gun control question is "how do we best prevent the second amendment from being interpreted as a suicide pact?" the key is not to control the weapons, but to regulate the militia by preventing as many psychotics and gangsters access to weapons as possible. the incredible thing is that whenever a gun "just goes off" an inconvenient person, usually a responsible gun owner's wife, dies.
Exactly, this thread is not created to talk about this problem, but rather to brag how much gun lovers know about their subject of affection, and how much their opponents don't know.
Hi, Quantum Nerd. An ex-gun owner myself, I know my way around the lingo. I content myself by presenting factual data about that which matters most: the on-going loss of life. For me, a meaningful discussion would be one which seeks the reasons the United States of America is such a deadly place compared to the gunshot death data for other nations. Only when the causes are known can they be successfully addressed. Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n un-shot.
The Assault Riftle described by Wikipedia is not an AR-15. Wikipedia said "An assault rifle is a selective fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine" An AR-15 is not a selective fire rifle. The AR-15 only has one mode. Pull the trigger and it fires one round at a time. A selective fire rifle means it can select between firing one round at a time, firing continuously until the trigger is released or firing in three round bursts. In fact, you proved that an AR-15 is not an assault rifle. The article lists assault rifles and the AR-15 is not listed. However, the M-16 is listed. The M-16 is similar to the AR-15, but has a selector switch to change the mode of fire.
