I have no need for control freak foreign gun banners. what you have a need for is only applicable to YOU. thousands of brits owned handguns and thus wanted them before your silly government had a collective bed wetting over Dunblane

I just read this. I have 3 rescue dogs. Immediately I side with you if for no other reason cuz I walk my 3 in a park every am.That aside, I am sorry Y for that event and to tell you the truth I do not want to live with a fear like that. I am in greater Toronto area so I have no such similar issue. I am not saying Canada is perfect or better, I am just saying less likely there is a gun.

There are lot of screwed up people that hate and want to poison dogs or get into fights. We all know them. I had a guy sneak up on me in the park while I was walking. Clearly some wacko about to jump me and my Carolina dog (baige German Shepherd like dog) turned around and nipped him on the leg and my other two very small dogs stood behind me but one came around to try protect me as the wacko stood there. My dogsstood guard with their fangs out and ears back. I have never trained them to attack. I rescue and rehab. traumatized dogs that have been beaten. The three I have I just got too attached to after long training and they calm me down and are a great comfort as you would know.

I told the police what happened and they said they had reports of an unstable man in the park and were watching and he had frightened school kids and another man walking with his dog too.

Look I am glad that wacko had no gun. What can I say to you. I am 67. I can't fight like I used to lol.

So for you the added gun thing who needs it in this crazy world man. Hang in.

Oh I would never second guess you in that kind of a situation. You sound a lot calmer than I would be. That guy could very well have been a meth addict which is why he was edgy. Most guys making these quick grab robberies are druggies according to the stats. They also go back to the same places. Glad you were not shot my some meth idiot.

Fortunately the only thing I've had to worry about this far is the typical homeless drug addicts that come in between two and 4:00 and there's one spot in the store where there is a camera blind spot.

They hang out there too long I'll get the rag and go wipe the counter or something and I don't care if they get pissed off because you're damn right I'm watching you.

This one girl the other night had a bag of clothing on her bicycle handlebars and she scattered some across the parking lot and then threw the bag down for me to pick up later. When we have five garbage cans and a dumpster available for use. It's like almost every night someone has to try me with some dumb crap. The first 2 hours of my shift are spent outdoors emptying the trash and picking up the parking lot and washing off the mats from the store and cleaning up behind the mechanics. I take pride in making sure our parking lot and property is clean and it pisses me off to no end when some low life comes and just throws their trash down.

I rolled back the camera and saw her doing it and I took out my cell phone and took a video of the camera monitor. I'm going to ask her if she knows anything about it and let her lie to me and then pull out my cell phone and ask her if there's any reason I shouldn't ban her from the property. Just waiting on her to return.

There's a laundromat across the street that's 24 hours and she probably stole the clothing from there anyway.

I suppose that being shot at counts as "having a gun pointed at you".

Except for BB gun battles as a kid, I was only shot at several times in S.E. Asia, and S. Lebanon, once in Bulgaria, several times by a drunken ex wife and just once in the 'hood.

As far as having a gun pointed at me, the largest was a 12.7 mm Soviet heavy machine gun but I don't really know how many times I have had a gun pointed at me.

That trick of zigzaging while you run worked fine back when I could run so Kevlar is looking better and better all the time.

    Thanks,

I have a few friends and we always hang out under a friend's house that is near the river and is built on stilts. So there's a man cave of sorts under the house.

One of our friends was some sort of special forces in the South American drug wars, decades ago.

He liked to sit at the table that we all gather around and take his loaded 380 and spin it around on the table. Needless to say I voiced my displeasure with his careless gun handling.

He passed away about 8 months ago. Oddly enough he had shot himself accidentally in the past. You would think a military trained man would know better. And he was actually the genuine article, not just claiming it.

    God rest him.

When I was a kid, I had a UFO land in the field outside of my apartment, and I entered it. To my amazement, the pilot was human! I refused to leave, so I returned to the base with him.

So, when we got there, I was brought out, bound in a straitjacket, loaded onto an airplane, and flown out over the ocean. When we were out there, they opened the door and put a gun to my head to scare me. But I promised that I could keep a secret.

Well, it looks like I can't keep a secret after all...

It looks like a lot of people have had a gun pointed at them. More so than not. It looks like a lot of people are pointing their guns at other people. It's amazing that we're not all shot dead by now.

There was almost total support amongst the public when the handgun ban came in.
    Handguns were very rare anyway.
I've never even seen one outside of a museum.

And yet ask the Brits and the Aussies on this board and the haven’t been subjected to any of the issues recounted here. We think that is worth one hell of a lot

We sort of had to do “buy back” as the government is not allowed to confiscate stuff without recompense:p.

Giving guns to anyone who wants one is why you have tens of thousands of firearms deaths every year and we have fewer than 700 murders of which a tiny fraction are gun related.

Same here but it also the gun culture that is missing. We are more reverent about life. One thing that the gun culture has done is enculture a dismissal of gun deaths - even child gun deaths

I blows me away. The same dismissal is seen in relation to rising maternal deaths, deaths from the mess of a healthcare system and don’t even go there with COVID deaths

good, but we aren't trying to convince the disarmed subjects that freedom is better. You and several others spend an ungodly amount of time on American boards trying to tell us that a government that doesn't trust us to own firearms is better

couldn't care less because nothing you have ever suggested would make that better and your solutions would cause a lot of people to be killed

Is this a convenience store? I'd remembered, I'd thought, that you worked someplace that rented cars. Now I recall, in the past, you saying something about working at a store. Are these two different jobs? Just curious, to improve my understanding, when you speak of your situation.

I once, briefly, did the overnight shift at a 7-11. I never had any problems with undesirables, hanging out in the store. Only, occasionally, teens parked out front, but that was pretty much limited to a Friday night thing, didn't last long, and didn't generally go very late. Sounds like your area, presents more problems.

But what, specifically, are these "homeless drug addicts... hanging out... too long," doing? I can only assume that you are concerned about their stealing the store's merchandise? Has the store manager kept you in the loop, as to your store's degree of inventory "shrinkage," or do they never audit the merch., to know, for sure?

I can relate to your frustration over those who inconsiderately leave trash, just lying about. I live in a cul-de-sac, which people turn into, to get a little privacy, and occasionally I find empty liquor & beverage bottles, paper cups, food bags/wrappers, and the like, just left at the curb (which is partly obscured by the trees in my front yard), in front of my house. I'm sorry to say, however, that this sort of behavior is not at all uncommon, among the general populace. It has long been a particularly vicious pet peeve, of mine, to see people throw cigarette butts, out their car windows, like the rest of the world, is just their ash tray.

    It's a 24-hour gas station but we're also a full-service mechanics garage but the mechanics leave at 10:00 p.m. and return at 6:00 a.m.

So I'm kind of the night mechanic to a small degree, though I don't get paid mechanic wages so I try my best not to do any mechanic work. I'll get people air and plug tires once in awhile and check the oil and stuff like that and tell them for anything more involved they need to come back in the morning.

My first 2 hours are spent outside of the store and then from midnight until 6:00 a.m. I'm in the store alone when my last co-worker leaves at midnight... It's not a particularly bad area but I see most of the same homeless drug addicts every night.

It's a small store and we have this one tiny blind spot and that's where the beef jerky is kept for some reason. I commented to the boss once that maybe we should put that beef jerky up where the chips are and put the chips back there but I'm hired from the neck down so it must not be enough of a problem for him to worry about.

I have had a couple of people trespassed. One for stealing a beer in front of me at 3:00 a.m. and another for being belligerent and threatening and telling me that he wasn't going to leave.

Then about once a month or so I probably get cussed out when someone hears no or anything else they don't want to hear.

The day shift has it much worse in that regard

    Re:
You're not going to change many minds with such sanctimonious virtue signaling.

The selectively outraged anti gun cult celebrates every mass shooting with the same gleeful delight as a child on Christmas morning because it presents another tragedy to exploit for political gain.

Please stop suggesting that timid hoplophobes are somehow morally superior to people who own firearms due to their isolated phobia of guns.

Loyal Americans who value the entire Bill of Rights are more committed to saving lives because they support measures that address all homicides, not just the ones the serve their own political agenda.

    Thanks,

Township police. while walking back from the woods along the CSX tracks.
Some old lady though she heard machine gun fire in the woods, called the sheriff.
Ran our records, checked our guns, and let us on our merry ways.

So... its NOT your gun control laws, as you so often claim.
    Interesting.
