-I- do. .44 magnum revolver for deer. AR15 for 'yotes and hogs. And there's no reason I can't hunt deer with my AR10
those who want to tell us that we should not own things they claim we don't need, are exactly why we should be well armed
Try this one: If your life isn't in danger you weren't raped, and you didn't sleep with your brother, you don't need an abortion.
There no sense, common or otherwise, in unnecessary, ineffective, or unconstitutional restrictions on the exercise of the right to keep and bear arms by the law abiding.
With many aspects in life, there are regulations and licences. But why? Why have regulations on vehicles, commercial food hygiene, gas boilers etc.. and why does the person have to have the appropriate licence? Why not allow anyone install a gas boiler in your house? So gas boilers are not banned because you don't have the Right to install it, you are more than perfectly allowed to go and achieve the relevant paperwork and go install as many gas boilers as you want. Surely, even gun nuts, understand the common sense behind this. And that's where the 2ndA fails, it allows any Tom Dick Harry have a gun. It's an Amendment that might have worked over 200 years ago, but it's certainly America's Achilles heal. Boilers and houses are blowing up because people have the Right to gas boilers. Road injuries are through the ceiling because everyone has the Right to vehicles, etc.. So as with cars, gas boilers, food hygiene, alcohol licences etc.. to deflect the same common sense away from guns, just mouth froth, "2nd Amendment, we have Rights".
And in ANY society, you shouldn't have a gun pointed at you. So if someone believes they need guns because a gun was pointed at them, it compounds the cultural problem.
Re: It almost sounds like you're arguing for the "good ol' days" when only affluent, White men could be armed because now that women and minorities are allowed to own guns, "...boilers and houses are blowing up..." I suspect, rather, that you're arguing for gun owners to be licensed, tested and registered like plumbers, electricians and HVAC installers. I think that by doing so, you're conflating vocations with basic rights that pre date even the Magna Carta. "The Magna Carta came to represent the idea that the people can assert their rights against an oppressive ruler and that the power of government can be limited to protect those rights. These concepts were clearly foundational and central to both the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution." Feb 15, 2021 (Wikipedia) I'm sure that you don't feel like you need to register or get a license to go to church or write a letter to a newspaper editor so the Rights guaranteed under the 2nd Amendment are the same thing. Thanks,
These aspects of life do not involve the exercise of a right explicitly protected by the constitution. As such, you argue apples and oranges. Amend the constitution. Until then: There no sense, common or otherwise, in unnecessary, ineffective, or unconstitutional restrictions on the exercise of the right to keep and bear arms by the law abiding.
it's all a facade. public safety is the flag they sing, fascist control is the one they wear. It's all about punishing a culture that collectivists hate-the culture of independence and freedom
I can't remember the author of the quote: The government that governs least governs best." but it's just one that comes to mind when I get tired of meddlesome governments trying to protect me from myself.
I want to guess TJ but I could be wrong because IIRC Jefferson is credited with that but someone said it was HDT on another thread years ago
Got shot 3 times, the last one was rather bad. Bullet went straight across my belly, opened me up, my belly left to right, opened me up. Got one hell of a zipper now, luckily it was just meat and not guts. 1 once in the leg. right and one in the shoulder, left, I guess for balance. Yes I can say some mo fu pointed a gun at me.
I've had a cop point a shot gun at me. I've been robbed at gun point. I was just as scared in both events. If a cop orders you to do something, obey. You can sue later, if he is violating your rights.
I've had a shotgun pulled on me (traffic stop), and a handgun pointed at me (as a pedestrian). The first was a cop, the second a robber. Not a lot of fun, nor would I wish the experience on anyone.
