Re "I believe it’s important to remember warming of the planet is saving lives."

If you look at ocean life you will see that life in warmer waters is sparse compared to colder waters. Any rise in sea temperature will effect ocean life which will have a knock on effect on terrestrial lives

The constant Pi value is 3.14159 to 5 decimal places. Did you know that if the value of Pi was 3.14150 to 5 decimal places the universe as we know it would not exist?

Yeah you stupid climate deniers, just look at this video. Climatologists have been right on this for decades!

It got down to minus 10 degrees in my part of Texas just 7 months ago. That was the coldest ever recorded in history by over 20 degrees in my lifetime. The ice age is upon us.

Mild winters means I will be burning less CO2 creating natural gas which ends up being a plus for the climate

Ninety percent of ocean life lives in the warmest ocean layer. Is that what you are referring to? The Indian Ocean is the warmest overall and has some of the most biodiverse coral reefs. I’m not sure what you are getting at.

If one is worried about ocean life they would cease consumption of wild caught sea food. That’s been far more of a threat than warming.

Edit to add: the consumption of farmed shrimp is responsible for large scale destruction of mangroves that are the basis of much ocean life reproduction habitat.

Mm, but then come the 100 degree summers. Heat is a far greater killer than cold, and then there are the wildfires that inevitably accompany it.

No. Below ideal temps kill 10-17 times as many as above ideal temps depending on the region.

America's Top Weather Killer Is Not Tornadoes, Flooding, Lightning or Hurricanes – It's Heat
    At a Glance
    • Excessive heat claims over 150 lives in an average year in the U.S.
    • It's particularly dangerous for the elderly living in large cities without air conditioning.
    • One heat wave in the 1990s claimed over 1,000 lives.
    https://weather.com/safety/heat/news/2021-06-03-heat-america-fatalities

Cold is easier to deal with. You put on an extra layer and you're probably good.

Sorry you didn’t read your link. Or do any research. Let’s address your link first. If you read your link you will discover two things. First, NOAA is the source of data and the statistics they use separate cold related deaths into two categories while leaving all heat related deaths in one category. Here is a screenshot of the source material of your article.

    6EF305F3-21DC-4CC2-AE27-00D9026E6F36.jpeg

At the bottom you will notice NOAA intentionally says the CDC/NIH is the official government source for death coding. When we go to CDC data we find this STUDY, not guesses by the weather channel and NOAA.

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25073563/

Now that we see your source admits it should not be used for official US numbers, let’s look at huge long term global peer reviewed studies.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.do...res-kill-5-million-a-year-20-year-study-77875

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanplh/article/PIIS2542-5196(21)00081-4/fulltext

Here is another huge study of all temperatures, not just extreme temps.

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(14)62114-0/fulltext

So we see temperatures that are cooler than optimal for humans kills Seventeen times as many people as temperatures that are warmer than ideal.

Isn’t real science amazing? Real science shows your narrative is patently false and diametrically opposed to empirical evidence. A warming planet will save MANY lives by decreasing the massive death loss from below optimal temperatures.

Between 2000 and 2019 the warming trend has decreased temp related mortality 0.3% already!

That’s just a FACT. And a fact virtually unknown in the demographic posting about deaths from global warming.

If you have large scale peer reviewed studies that conflict with what I’ve provided please share them. But let’s not mistake the weather channel for science. They are the guys that can’t even predict the weather very well! I’m not interested in opinions, just hard science.

OK, I was incorrect about heat vs cold deaths and I stand corrected.

That said, a warming planet will not save lives, nor will it be good for the ecosystem as a whole -- especially the marine environment, where warming and acidification are causing great harm and killing off coral reefs. Elevated water and air heat as well as associated wildfires and extreme weather events are all problematic, both in terms of deaths and catastrophic property damage. The US has been experiencing more extreme weather thanks to global warming. Another associated problem is droughts, a problem that has been afflicting the west coast and the southwest region especially. Then there is the rise in sea levels as polar ice and glaciers melt.

It would be myopic, selfish, and terribly irresponsible to ignore all of the problems associated with global warming, such as the deadly, record-breaking heat that Europe and the UK have been experiencing this summer, and focus only on milder winters. And actually, where I live at least, winters have not been milder at all. We've been getting deep freezes instead thanks to the havoc that same climate change has been wreaking in the arctic.

We have a chance IF every person who claimed to care, stopped living such profligate lives. That's literally all it will take.

If every such individual immediately stopped travelling, driving, airconditioning, clothes-drying, buying new (anything), and purchasing absurd amounts of service ... none of that Net Zero BS which will compromise the poorest people in the world, would have to happen.

The trees do need to happen, though.

That is correct since heat waves is a WEATHER phenomenon which happens every year.

Maybe their argument is climate change is making those heat waves 0.5 degrees warmer?

You completely fail to make a point over the mini heatwave which is a WEATHER event.

True but the varieties are very different today thus not a valid comparison.

The mini heatwave isn't caused by climate change it is cause by weather combination of a ridge and trough as explained here by Dr. Mass a Meteorologist who shows the map of the region:

We have been in an ice age for around 2.7 million years, I think you meant GLACIATION.

But you didn't support that assertion.... It was warmer than now in the early Holocene....

Meanwhile this handy chart shows that in warming world humans are coping with a small warming trend quite easily:

I don't see any climate emergency going on except in hysterical media fantasies.
