If having a god to worship makes you feel better about yourself and do good things then that's great. Others don't need any god in their life to feel good about themselves and to do good things and that should be ok too.

 

Yes, Dewey believed in democracy and to a large extent individual liberty. But he also believed that the predominant focus of education should be teaching (and in fact indoctrinating) cultural and societal norms as prescribed by the state. And that while reading writing, arithmetic, and work skills, etc. were important, they were distinctly secondary. This is pretty much in line with Marxist philosophy and strategy. Dewey was also a big fan, albeit with some disagreements, of the soviet education system under Lenin and Stalin.

 

That is completely orthogonal. I believe a God created the universe and that the earth is a billion or two years (or so) old.

No, I am saying interpretations of the Bible characteristically vary all over the map. (BTW much of the Old Testament is inconsistent and contradictory.)

 

I can advocate that the way I chose is a better way all I want under both the free speech and free exercise there of. Your choice to not believe and mine to believe and to express it and live it there of are both protected by the freedom of religion clause in the 1st amendment

OMG! I actually attempted to use persuasion to suggest one way is better or preferred over another! How dare I express for what I believe and suggest it might be a better way. How dare a believer say something that makes a denier in any way uncomfortable in their personal opinion. How arrogant it is for a Christian to dare express what we believe in and why we do and even imply it might be a better way. The horrors of it all!

 

Right….They rejected God and embraced atheism and then acted as they did because they were atheists and turned on people who were believers. Their killing fields happened as a result of their rejection of any form of theism.

The irony is that these social progressives have already infiltrated even private "faith-based" Christian universities.

I heard one story about two parents who spent tens of thousands of dollars to send their daughter to a private Catholic university, and then after she graduated they discovered that the professors there had turned their daughter into an atheist.
It wasn't actually as "Catholic" of an environment as the parents had assumed.

Sad but true. Parents have to be careful even in the selection of religious private colleges and universities as well as K-12 private Christian schools.
